Day Four of the New and Improved Dieter

So far I have been sticking to the checklist pretty well. Of course, this being Saturday, I will have to be careful because weekends tend to do me in with seeing everyone else eating. The plan for tonight is to grill some chicken, mushrooms, and whatever other veggies that look good when I go to the store this afternoon. NO ICE CREAM!!! Why must you tempt me so? Bad, bad ice cream.

One thing I think I am going to start doing is "rewarding" myself on a weekly basis with a new piece of clothing. Nothing expensive, but a lot of my tops are too loose, and although I can (and do) still wear them, I feel fat. A few weeks ago I bought a cute purple top on clearance in my new size, and I really like how I look and feel in it. So I'm going to get something new each week - maybe on Tuesdays after I weigh in - and stop wearing the bigger tops. I have a large Macy's shopping bag sitting on the floor of my closet that I've been tossing my too big clothes into...today I got to throw in a pair of jeans! Why, you might ask, would I wear jeans in July in Texas? Well, dear readers, because I freeze at work! I spent Thursday and Friday in a sweater and was still cold, so today I'm wearing jeans. And they are comfortably loose. Woot - I'm warm and thinner!

On the exercise front, my left knee has been hurting for a week now, and it's getting really annoying. Last night Jeff wrapped the heating pad around it - I left it on for several hours and it felt better. I think the thing that started the hurt was one of the Yoga exercises on WeeFee...I knew almost as soon as I did that pose that there would be trouble. I haven't done it since that one time, but I have been doing the Step Aerobics and I think it's been aggravating it. This makes me mad, because I am finally enjoying exercise and now it hurts...even riding Ipoholo bothers me. Stupid knee. Tonight I am going to play the Wee Sports games - the bowling and tennis are fun, and use the upper body and arms more than anything, which I have been neglecting. But I have lost more inches from the upper body, which I haven't been exercising, than the lower, which I have. Go figure.

Oh! I'm signing my dog, Paco, up for an agility class in August! He got a taste of it during Puppy Kindergarten a year and a half ago, so I know he will love it. Plus I will get to run around with him - sneaky exercise, and I'll take it!

  1. My yoga instructor always told us that if it hurts, stop. Yoga shouldn't hurt.

  2. That would have been a good thing to know before I started it...of course, in the shape that I'm in, how do I differentiate between "hurt" and using muscles that haven't seen the light of day for years? LOL

  3. As soon as you start to feel that tightness or any pain, that's when you back off. Each day you'll get more flexible, and you'll discover that there won't be pain.
