WWU - It's About Time, RIGHT???

I finally have a little bit of exercise to talk about - it's not much, but it's more than I've done in months, so it's deserving of a post.

In January I went for a few walks.  WALKS.  It's all I can handle right now.  But it's been good, even though I'm tired after a mile...of walking.  Oh, how far I've fallen.  I started to fantasize that I might begin a little run/walk program, but then I went for a walk and was worn out after doing a mile, so the run/walk thing has been put on a shelf for now.

Generally I do at least two miles; I'm not trying to push for any particular pace or whatnot; I'm just moving my body and enjoying time spent with my friends.  I've walked with Barbara, Jenny, and Cindy, with a bonus of Aiden in the stroller.  I do enjoy the walking, especially the therapeutic aspect that comes with talking things out as we walk; it's like running therapy only without gasping as you try to talk.
It's the return of Jelly!

In case you weren't around about 10 years ago, Jenny and I ran our first 5K, and then our first half marathon, together.  We were good running partners - our strides matched perfectly and we had a lot of fun; I'm glad we're walking together because it's like 10 years ago only slower, LOL.

Other than walking, I'm back to doing my physical therapy exercises.  I have another three weeks before I'm allowed to drive again, so I probably won't be going back to BCS Fitness until March.  I know that going back will be so good for me, mentally as well as physically; I can't believe it's been nearly a year since I've worked out with my group!  I miss my peeps and my trainers so much, you can't imagine.

  1. Going for walks is great exercise! And you're right, the added benefit is that you can chat more without getting winded :)

I'm excited for you to get back to your group workouts next month! I hope the next few weeks fly by for you!

  2. I can imagine how much you miss your group workouts--when I've been sidelined from running, I feel like a piece of me is missing! Hurray for the comeback!

  3. Hooray for walking. I was just telling a friend the other day that she needs to JUST WALK. Try for 30 minutes every other day and quit trying to be a running and/or gym queen - all the things she hates. Walking is so good for you physically AND mentally!

    1. Oh for sure, do what you like, don't push something just because you think you should. I'm convinced you get more benefit out of exercise if you like what you are doing.

  5. Hey - walking is great! It's nice because you don't have to sweat unless you want to and you can go for little bits here and there. Plus being outside clears the head.

    1. I figure one day I'll be walking and then randomly start running...not sure when, though.
