My Treasure-Filled Office

I've got a new little decorating corner in my office!  It looks like it's been done by a 12-year-old with a good allowance rather than a 50-something...but I wouldn't have it any other way:
I inherited this filing/display cabinet from Allie, who had inherited it from Sam, who bought it when he furnished his first apartment after graduating from college.
It's a showcase for my Harry Potter/Universal Studios treasures!
Two things - I need to buy a bag of green M&M's to fill up the U-No-Poo jar (somehow the original green candies have disappeared), and I thought my pin collection was a little more extensive...I plan on adding to it next time we go to Universal Studios.

I need to swing by Half-Priced Books to see if they have any more hardback editions of the books; I wanted something to stagger the height and thought the books, with their colorful jackets, would be perfect.  Too bad the kadults took their copies - I'm reduced to buying used books for the sole purpose of making this cute display.
Here's the lower shelf, featuring my Big Bang Theory Funko Pops, along with other treasures.

I know I've shown this view before, but I can't not put it on this post:
The view from my desk.
Side note - do you think I'll ever find pictures to put in the two empty frames?  I swear I've had them for a decade, and whenever I decide to put a picture in one, it doesn't work out.
Love this.  Of course after I took this picture I remembered that I'd moved the paper flowers that were in the lime and navy Fiestaware vases to another room; they need some color and height, STAT.

I love having a place in our house where I can showcase things that are important to me, without having to make it look like an adult lives here.  Luckily Jeff is the same as me when it comes to this - and luckily he has his own office where his treasures live, because mine need their own space, LOL.

  1. That whole display is so fun!

I go back and forth with decorating - sometimes I feel like less is more simply because I don't have to dust and clean things, and other times I wish the house was a bit more decorated. Then I think about retiring and moving and am convinced I have too much stuff.

    1. Me either on the dusting; I find that having lighter colored furniture helps to hide the dust better (until you happen to see the sunlight hit it during the right time of day, egad!).

  2. I love all your 'stuff'. I'm the same way--I have lots of momentos around the house. It can be cluttered, and I really need to purge.

    1. After I packed everything up for the renovation, I was very selective about what I unpacked, which helped with the clutter. Of course I've added since then but still...it could be realllllly cluttered, LOL!

  3. My husband keeps trying to convince me that we "need" display cases all over the house for his action figures. I'm more of a white-space-is-great person, so it makes it interesting to decorate our house!

  4. I don't remember you having all those striped bins in your cabinets. They look great!

    1. Thanks! I added them a couple of years ago to break up all of the black.

  5. I love seeing your displays! It is so nice to put the stuff you love out for everyone to see - my office is set up like that too :) (travel, and running, and cats)

I think the frames without pics look good! But it would be pretty funny if you put a pic of a shell in one, and stars in the other. LOL.

That is awesome that that cabinet is getting so much use. And it still looks great!

  6. I'm kind of like Helen with "I want to decorate more" and "I need to get rid of stuff". Maybe you could put some wrapping paper pieces in the frames or even fabric swatches for now. Just for something different.
