FMM - Fashion Friday Returns!

Longtime readers of this blog will recall that I used to do a Fashion Friday post fairly regularly - this started about nine years ago, when I'd lost 100+ pounds, needed new clothes (obviously, haha), and also had a job to dress for.  Eventually that feature disappeared because I wasn't working, didn't buy a whole lot of new clothes, and mostly what I wore was jeans and a t-shirt.

That said, I was so happy with my outfit when I got dressed for work on Wednesday that I decided to take some pictures and bring back FF!  OK, some things have changed - I don't have the column in the dining/entry to pose next to, and Paco is hard of hearing so he didn't come skidding in to be in the shot like he used to do every single time, but it's a start, and maybe I'll figure out a better way to shoot other than propping my phone in a bookcase.  But here goes:
I'm wearing my first-ever animal print!  To be honest I never was very attracted to them, but I was looking for something to tie in with my new brown pants and when I saw this cardigan, I went for it.  And I like it!
I had a little trouble getting a full-length shot with my bookcase set up, so this is the best I could do - but I wanted to show the pants and how cute my pink sandals worked with the sweater.  There's a soft pink center in the leopard spots so the pink sandals tied everything together nicely.  At least that's what I'm going with...

The sweater is from LOFT, pants are Democracy brand from TJ Maxx, shirt is an old v-neck from Universal Standard (only there can I wear an XS), and shoes are my beloved Birkenstocks that Jeff bought me as a consolation present for not getting to wear my running shoes.

Oh and yes, I was wearing sandals on November 20th.  Wasn't I freezing to death last week?  Texas - gotta love needing all seasons of clothing in the same month... heck, sometimes in the same week!

Tomorrow will be the first time we've been with our Renegades in a couple of weeks, and I'm looking forward to it!  And maybe if Jimmy isn't busy with work, we can do our Coffee and Cruisin' thing while everyone else runs 9 miles.  Any case, we'll all end up around our table at Blue Baker catching up on life with each other, yippee!

Have a great weekend!

  2. You know I love Fashion Friday! You look beautiful, even with your crazy summer feet and winter top lol.

I needed some jeans and found Democracy jeans at Marshalls. When I was shopping, there were a regular blue jean and one black jean. Because I didn't know if I'd like them (the trials of women and jeans, amiright?) I bought the blue ones. Two days later after having worn the blue ones for a full day and LOVING them, I went back to buy the black ones and they were gone. I should have known to buy and return dammit!

  3. I love your Fashion Friday! You look very nice! I have never tried a animal print before; maybe seeing you rock it so well will inspire me to try.

Have fun meeting up with your friends!

    1. Thanks Susan! I think maybe because the print is fairly light (and on a light background) it doesn't scream ANIMAL PRINT to me. Or maybe I'm wrong, but hey, I like it.

  6. I think the outfit is super cute and the animal print goes nicely. I live in the city of the Mizzou Tigers and taught at a middle school where we were leopards so animal prints galore. Paco deserves his own fashion shoot in Friday’s:).

Off topic... are those vinyl tiles, engineered hardwood? I should go reread your remodel posts. I’m thinking it’s time for me to update flooring. I loathe the dust that getting my ceramic tile out will generate.

    1. The flooring is tile-that-looks-like-wood. Pretty sure that's not the official name, LOL. I still LOVE this flooring and while expensive, am so glad we went for it. They only had to remove the ceramic tile from our kitchen floor for our renovation and holy moly it was sooooooo dusty. But worth it. But dusty. ;)

  7. You look MAH-velous!! And the animal print is just right. Are you having fun getting back into dressing for work? I mean, you practically HAVE to go shopping, right? LOL Fun to have a Fashion Friday again, though it is odd without Paco. Have a great weekend, Shelley!

I should bring back fashion Friday on IG. I remember Baylee always running to get in front of the camera too! Dogs of bloggers, we've trained them well!
