Your Votes - And Boredom is Setting In

I had my opinion regarding the "which businesses will be slammed first" poll, and the majority of you guys were on the same page as me - hairdressers.  Medical and gyms were next on the list.  While several of you gave more than one answer, I chose the top or first one for my super unscientific poll.

Depending on when we get out of this, I may have some interesting-looking hair.  I have mine highlighted and while there is some gray, there's also some dark hair.  Who knows what I'll look like; at least it'll be longer, which is what I've been going for since January.  I'd like more of a shoulder length style.  I may exceed expectations, haha.

Speaking of when this is over, is anyone thinking we may be in isolation for at least another month?  That's where my mind is going.  Coronavirus still seems to be on its way toward peaking but not there yet, so all of the caution efforts are still greatly necessary.  I don't have a problem with doing that because A) I don't want to get sick and/or die; and B) I don't want anyone else to, either.

That said, I'm getting bored.  While our TV/movie watching is still happening, it's not something I can stand to do for hours at a time.  Even knitting is beginning to be boring.  I started another project - a shawl, which is something I rarely do because it's such a big thing - but even with that, I'm finding it difficult to do.  Not because it's difficult, just that I'm bored.

I finally thought about doing a jigsaw puzzle but of course we'd donated all of our puzzles when we were cleaning the house for our renovation.  So I went online looking to order some puzzles and hey guess who also had that idea?  EVERYBODY.  I finally found some that could be shipped in a decent timeline (some wouldn't ship until mid-May and I hope to not be cooped up by then) so maybe next week I'll have that to occupy my mind.  My running buddy Julia suggested a paint by sticker book - it's like a paint by numbers only you use stickers.  That looked pretty cool plus they were still in stock, and my order arrived on Wednesday:
I started with the kid's version and will work my way up to the adult one.
A school of fish!  I need to work on putting the stickers closer together but not bad for my first try.

Along with the sticker art and puzzles, Jeff and I have been playing UpWords, which is a game we've had forever and one of the few games we kept during the renovation purge.  I have a better vocabulary and can spell better than him but he's more of a strategist than me, so he keeps winning, dang it.

Have a great weekend - stay safe, stay well!

  1. We are going to be in this for at least another month. My work is planning on me being home through May! Even my work days are boring, with only 3-5 patients per day. I've been catching up on some education stuff, but I can only watch so many webinars. I need to clean the house, so there's that. Been reading a ton of books, because that's what I like to do.

    1. See, with the medical field keeping you home so long, I think that's why this is going to drag out. At least we're not sick.

  2. My sister got me one of those sticker books for Xmas and I enjoy it so much! I’ve bought more for myself and friends. That stinks that puzzles are taking so long to ship and sold out in some places - I heard that but hoped it was just a rumor. I’m excited to see which one you got!

Our stay at home order is until the end of April for sure. Do you mean another month like May, too? I wouldn’t be surprised either!

If you’re super bored let’s hook up on Houseparty. We can do a virtual chat and play games on it together <3

    1. Yeah, I suspect this will go through May. I hope I'm wrong, but perhaps thinking that and then getting "released" early will make it all that much better.

  3. Surprisingly, I am not bored. I have so many projects to work on! But sadly, I have watched all 8 seasons of Monk. Now I'll have to look for other stuff to watch on Amazon Prime.

    1. I'm impressed! I'm used to a lot of time at home but still, I miss getting out on Saturdays and seeing my Renegade friends, and I miss being able to run to TJ Maxx. I saw a meme that said "If I'd known the last time I'd go to TJ Maxx was the last time, I'd have TJ Maxxed a little harder" - that's me.

  4. I remember UpWords! We had that at my house when I was a kid. Pretty sure my parents bought it because it was less loud/annoying than Boggle, ha! If you like word games I'm on Words with Friends and will play with you :) It's tied to my FB and my username is AnnieMcGluggin if you want to find me. There's also free online games - maybe you could play with the kadults and have a zoom/facetime/whatever video call simultaneously. I did that the other night with some friends from Chicago and it was a lot of fun! (we used this site for cards: http://playingcards.io/)

I'm not bored per se, I just miss getting out of the house for something other than groceries.

    1. I do play WWF but I have so many games going with a few people that I actually feel pressure to play, which I'm sure isn't the point, so for now I'll have to pass - but thanks for the offer!

I think you can facetime with more than one person - we'll have to see if that works with our kadults. I do miss seeing them.

  5. Now that sticker book is something I might actually do! I’ve been filling my time with spring/deep cleaning at my house. Two more rooms and that’s done but then I’ll circle back to closets, and I’ve noticed some touch up painting that needs doing. I figure I better get this done now because once we are free to roam I may not want to spend a second of daylight in the darn house!

    1. Good point on being free to roam once this is over - OK, I'll get Jeff to work on some of my house projects now. Fix that toilet paper holder, dang it!
