FMM - Name That Room!

I don't usually name rooms in our house beyond the standard "kitchen" "laundry room" etc, but with two guest rooms now, there are times when I need to specify which one I'm talking about.  The original guest room, which is now in another room but still has the same furniture, is called the Texas room based on the Texas art on the walls.  Yes, very creative I know, haha.  But it works.

The new guest room needs a name, and that's where I'm hoping you guys can help - currently we refer to it as the Red Room, which makes me think of REDRUM thanks to the movie The Shining, which isn't very enticing to guests...hey, come visit and stay in the REDRUM - er, Red Room.  While I'm not finished decorating it, you can get a bit of the vibe I'm going for with the following pictures - kind of retro, with a little bit of dog thrown in (the bed sheets have little black dachshunds on them).  It helps that I keep finding red accessories around the house and into the room they go - my favorite is my old Panasonic Toot-A-Loop AM radio from back when I was a kid:
The radio, along with my old 45 records box, and my Skipper doll with the hair that you could curl.  Sums up a lot of my childhood right there...
The room isn't finished - I still don't have a bedskirt because I'm holding out for a ticking striped bedskirt but not willing to pay the price for one.
The gold chair and end table were originally my Grandmothers; the wooden Coke box was mine from 100 years ago...or maybe more like 45 years ago.  The cars in jars belonged to my kids back when they were little - see?  Retro.
View from the chair, with dogs on the wall as well as the sheets.

So, any ideas?  There's a lot going on but there has to be a good name for this room, right?  Help me stop calling it the Red Room, please!

This weekend is the beginning of spring break in our town, which means we get to enjoy going out to eat without all of the college students, woohoo!  It's also the anniversary of when we came to check out the town when we were considering moving here from San Antonio - it didn't occur to me that it was spring break and I remember thinking "oh, it's not bad with the college students at all" - boy did I get a rude awakening when we actually moved here and discovered the population was double what I thought!

Have a great weekend!

  1. LOL, I think REDRUM is going to stick! Maybe you could name it the Skipper room? I love the red. Red is my favorite color!

    1. I've realized that I pretty much love allllll the colors (which is probably why I have so many Fiestaware colors), but red is a big one for me, too. Skipper room - I like it but *ahem* I think of Gilligan and the Skipper first - whyyyyy do I go there? It's been decades since I watched that show!

  2. I think that since dogs are a theme you should name it something Paco - related.

  3. Why not just call it the Retro Room? I mean, that's what it is!

    1. I've thought about that. Also it could be something about decades because the more I look at things in it, the more I realize there is something from every decade starting with the 50s onward...

  4. I like REDRUM haha :)

I was on the same train of thought as Claire... The Paco Suite? Paco's Playground (mostly for the alliteration)?

  7. Red Rover Room? Red, check. Rover = dog, check. Red Rover = retro, as in old game Red Rover, Red Rover (send a guest over?)

  8. Hmmm - and that ticking stripe stuff is on sale... It's not much of a sale, but it's something.

  9. With that golden throne and the crimson bed it can only be:
    The Royal Suite.

  10. Red Room immediately came to mind for me, too! I am bad at naming things and usually borrow names from Game of Thrones ;) So... Highcastle? LOL (jk).

Oh man, you guys were in for a rude awakening when you saw how many people live there during the school year! It must be so strange to go through those high and low population seasons each year!
