You Should Know...

...that if I'm in the middle of a text conversation with you and it takes me a long time to respond, it's because I'm looking for a specific emoji.  Most recently it was the toilet 🚽and that should tell you how deep my texts are, 🤣.

...that I've found the perfect descriptor for my life in the form of a card that I am willing to purchase but not willing to pay the shipping cost, so I'm just going to post a picture of it here and link to where you could buy it to assuage my guilt:

Nailed it.  I really should buy the giant bottle at Sam's Club considering how often I take it.

...that I'm actively trying to not spend any extra money at the moment (but I would have spent $5.50 on that card so obviously I'm not perfect with this), and whenever I want something, I write it down on a list for when I feel like I can spend money.  On the one hand, the list isn't incredibly long.  On the other hand, it's about 50% hair products and tools, so when I finally start spending, my hair had better be gorgeous.

...that I balk at paying for shipping which is probably a good thing because it keeps me from impulse purchases.  Well, most of the time.  If there's a pretty hand-dyed yarn that is calling me, I'll pay shipping.  Basically my motto with yarn is HERE'S MY WALLET NOW GIVE ME ALL THE YARN.  I have a problem and the only solution is more cowbell...er, yarn!

...that I love it when random things happen on Words With Friends:
  Eh.  Eh.  Makes me chortle.

Now, what about you?  Tell me something I should know that you do in the comments - share your eccentricities, please!

  1. Eccentricities? None! I’m perfectly normal. From the way I am so cheap that I wear something till it is literally in threads, to the fact that I refuse to try the newest thing so that I don’t appear a follower! Yup...nothing eccentric about me! Hahaha. (Apparently I can add in my sarcasm as a bit of my eccentric nature!!)

    1. LOL on not letting yourself be a follower - love that quirk!

  2. That card really is funny! I use to take Ibprofen like candy when I had my IT band issues, until I was told it is not good for your internal organs, then I stopped.

Hmm, eccentricities....I dont know if this is considered eccentric but when it comes to healthy foods, I'll spend the money and buy organic for my dog, but not for myself. I'm all about buying Baylee what she needs, but I skimp on things I want. I figure she deserves it since her life isnt as long.

    1. Nothing is really great for you but my take is, neither is hurting like a mofo, so I swallow the Ibuprofen...

I hear you about spending on the dog; funny that I didn't think about their lives being shorter so they deserve the good stuff, but hey, they're family, right?

  3. Well...i was taking ibuprofen but my doctor prescribed meloxicam (same family, different drug) which works way better. So I guess that makes me a mature adult? Sigh

Eccentricities? How much time do you have? LOL

  4. I DO buy the giant ibuprofen at our warehouse store. I don't take as much as I used to because I was put on a strong anti-inflammatory drug for my arthritis but I swear Bobby takes some every single day. Plus it's so much cheaper to buy it that way.

I also have to really want something bad to pay for shipping. I blame Amazon.

  5. Well, like you, I have no problem spending money on yarn, spinning fiber, or fabric. But when it comes to things like new sheets or something practical, I don't really like spending money on that stuff...

    1. Hah, I know what you mean! Shoot, Jeff broke our OXO kitchen tongs and I looked at the price of a new pair at Target - $12 - and didn't buy them! Which is dumb because we use them several times a week.

  6. Here's my opinion on shipping, not that you asked: I view shipping as what I would have spent on lunch or some impulse purchase while shopping at or going to a brick and mortar store. But my Amazon cart used to be filled with things that I would add to an order that was short so I wouldn't have to pay shipping.

    1. Good point. I have been trying to buy a piece of Fiestaware that is custom to Belk and the shipping keeps stopping me. Then I add things to my cart to get enough to have free shipping...but I really don't need them. So I haven't clicked to complete the order just yet.

  7. It's nice to know you have your priorities straight, Shelley - yarn, hair products and tools. When you say tools, do you mean hammers and screwdrivers and such? Or do you mean HAIR tools? Just curious. I have a truckload of quirks...er...eccentricities, my socks are ordered by color in the sock drawer, I still keep a checkbook, I keep overripe bananas in the freezer for banana bread, but it gets out-of-hand enough that hubby gave me a plastic box to use for them. When the box is full, I have to give one up to put a new one in. And the one that gets the most eye rolls from my dear husband, I can't touch a wet kitchen sponge that's just lying in the sink - they must be squeezed out and laid on the counter. I just get the heebie-jeebies not knowing what it was last used for and if it's going to be greasy, yukky, icky. So I will actually call him into the kitchen to have him squeeze the sponge out for me (which I feel is only fair because he knows I hate that and that if it's in the sink, he's the one who left it there). Yeah, like I said, quirky...

    1. Yes, priorities indeed! And it's hair tools although I do have my own toolbox of regular tools as well. Also, I don't think it's eccentric to order socks by color...

Busted up at the wet sponge and making your husband deal with it - like you said, HE left it there!

  8. I always eat my cake the same way - cake first and save the frosting for last. Which gets annoying if I'm sharing a slice.

I will do almost anything to avoid asking John for help to prove I can do things myself, such as using tongs to reach things high up in the cupboard.

    1. Interesting on the cake/frosting - I like it together but I do like for the last bite to be all frosting. Also, interesting that you and I both call it frosting - some people call it icing, what's up with that?

Tongs are my go-to for reaching things - I pulled out the longer BBQ tongs a while back to get some paper towels down from a high shelf and my tall friend watched me like she'd never seen someone do that...which she hadn't, as she and her entire family are all super tall.

    2. Icing is not frosting. Icing is a glaze, like on a donut. Get it right, people.

  9. Sad but true, the first thing I do when I wake up to check my email, FB and IG. Then I can start my day.

In order to save money, I buy Starbucks K-cups instead of going to Starbucks.

I can't stand my table and counter tops to have junk on them. However, I have no problems shoving everything in a drawer where it is a bigger mess & I can't find anything.

Black pants, black tops and blacks shoe - no limit on how many I need.

    1. I have to have neat counter/desk tops too. I do have one level of a rolling cart that I throw coupons and messy stuff into, which doesn't bother me. Of course I always forget to check it to see if I can use a coupon when I am ready to shop, but still. Desk is clean! ;)

  10. This is such a fun post! I saw that post card going around on FB and it made me laugh! AN I think finding the perfect emoji is very important!

I also think it's important to share that if a business is small and they have free shipping you are paying for it elsewhere or they are losing money (my husband and I talk about this a lot as he owns a small business). Amazon has really made people expect free shipping! I think it's smart to keep a list of the things you want and aren't buying. I do that and use it as my birthday and holiday wish list (my in laws ask for one).

Hmm, a "you should know" about me... I am super stubborn and if you tell me to do something it makes me not want to do it. EEK! Bad, right?

    1. I think that's why I don't mind paying for shipping from yarn dyers, but it might be better to jack up the price to cover the shipping and make me feel like I'm getting a deal on other stuff. I know this isn't logical, but have you seen my brain? ;)

  11. In my case, it should read "Welcome to Old Age...When You Can't Take Your Beloved Ibuprofen Because it is Damaging Your Liver!". Sad, but true. And oh how I miss it!

  12. I laughed because I do the same thing with things I want to purchase! Ninety percent of them are saved in a Wish List on Amazon.com :)
