Gorgeous sunrise on Saturday - it started raining a couple hours after I took this picture and it hasn't stopped since.
I did run on Saturday; the weather had changed back to hot and humid so it was 72 degrees with 100% humidity. Jeff ran with me and we did three miles - it didn't go as well as I'd hoped, but in looking back part of that may have been this cold sneaking up on my immune system. And also the weather. Bah.
The sad thing is that on Monday we got our first cold front of the season - it was in the 40s! Of course we got rain with that cold front, so no running even if I felt better. My gosh, it just keeps raining and raining here. The ground is so saturated that it instantly starts pooling, even with our sump pump working hard in the back yard. Luckily our house is on a concrete foundation and we have a long way to go before the water would even touch it, but this is getting ridiculous:
One of the skellingos needs a water rescue...
SO. MUCH. MUD.
I'm hoping it will stop raining so we can enjoy running in these cooler temps before they return to hot and humid, because I'm sure they will - we never get a solid season (summer excepting) without a dramatic change in the temperature. So maybe I'll get to run on Thursday or Friday? I am planning on going to my workout Thursday at the very least.
I'm sorry you got a cold those are the worst! Don't try to workout to soon listen to your body.
ReplyDeleteOur ground is very saturated here in Orlando too. If we were to get a tropical storm or heaven forbid a hurricane we will have flooding here in Orlando, and many trees will come down due to the soggy ground. I hope your son in NC did alright with hurricane Michael.
I hope you feel better soon.
I sure hope we are done with hurricanes for the rest of this year! My son was OK with hurricane Michael and we are very grateful about that. Thanks for checking in on him!
DeleteI, too, am in the please only make me workout for 30 minutes category. I just don't like workouts that go much longer than that - except for running of course lol. I sure hope you get to feeling better. Maybe this will be your only cold of the 18-19 season!
ReplyDeleteI so feel for you with all that rain. It sucks. Everyone needs more sun!!
I'm hoping you're right - getting a cold over with now and that's it for the season.
DeleteYeah, funny how I can run for an hour and be fine, but make me workout for an hour and I wanna die.
It must be cold season! I have been thinking "I haven't had a cold for a long time" and yesterday my BF said she was coming down with a cold. Take care, so you don't have a relapse!
ReplyDeleteAck, be sure to wash your hands when you venture outside - NO COLD FOR YOU!
DeleteP.S. Did you notice Tucker in the sunrise picture? He reluctantly went on a walk but when they came back his mom let him come over to see us and he was bouncing around like a puppy!
Man! What is with all the rain in TX?! Craziness!
ReplyDeleteI hope you feel better soon and get to run when it's cooler!
Yuck to the cold!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI saw on the news the rains and flooding in Texas and wondered how you guys were doing!!!
Seems like everyone is getting sick! Ugh. Feel better. I'm sure once it dries up you'll be a whole new woman.
ReplyDeleteThanks - I hope both the ground and my nasal passages dry up soon! :)
DeleteI can bike for hours and love it - when I was running, it was "ugh, is this over yet?" after 10 minutes :D
ReplyDeleteMaybe you should plant a succulent yard in the back since you have such good luck with those.
The succulents would drown, seriously. Also, weirdly, they don't do well outside - it's either too hot (yes, for succulents) or too cold, or too wet. Of course, I'm successfully killed several that were inside the house this year, so maybe I'm not having as good of luck as I was...
DeleteThe rain is crazy there! My brother's office at Apple HQ is on a boil water notice for probably the next 10 days!
ReplyDeleteActually the entire city of Austin is on a boil water notice! It is crazy for real.
