Also, Gary the tree blew over:
Poor Gary. Hopefully he will recover from this.
Mostly, he's spent the weekend working from home, getting cell service back up for everyone, everywhere. He's been busy, but at least it was work-related and not property damage like so many others in North Carolina are experiencing. It's still raining there, and many areas in and around Clayton are flooded; I'm sure you've seen news pictures of some towns closer to the coast that are underwater. Florence wasn't nice to North Carolina, that's for sure. I feel bad for everyone affected, and especially for those who lost their lives in this hurricane.
Thank you to everyone who commented on my posts last week, and who texted and emailed over the weekend, checking on Sam. I very much appreciated it, and I am relieved to have good news to report.
So glad Sam and his house came through the storm fine. I know it must of been a war on your nerves watching the storm play out at a distance. Looks like there is going to be a long clean up ahead for parts of NC that is once the flood waters recede.
ReplyDeleteHouston is still cleaning up, more than a year after Harvey. It's going to be a long road to recovery for NC; such a beautiful area, and so much of it is under water.
DeleteGlad he and his home came out of the storm unscathed.
ReplyDeleteA few years ago I saw a transformer in our neighborhood catch on fire and thought that was the scariest thing I had seen as an adult! I was worried sparks would fly to my neighbors barn and the whole thing would catch fire. Thankfully that did not happen.
It was probably good that the surrounding area was already wet when that transformer blew - not a high probability of a fire spreading. Super scary, nonetheless.
DeleteTen miles away from Clayton, people are completely under water. That's what makes hurricanes so stupid scary - you just never know how you'll end up. Really glad Sam and his new home came through so well. The TV footage has just been heartbreaking!
ReplyDeleteExactly - and while we are so grateful that Sam and his house are OK, it's horrible to see so many people in crisis.
DeleteI’ll admit, I did laugh out loud about Gary! So glad Sam made it out ok and so did his house!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad Sam is safe. I hope Gary survives his trauma...
ReplyDeleteThat is a relief for Sam. It's not over yet for flooding there, which is terrible. Nature is so beautiful and devastating at the same time.
ReplyDeleteSuch good news! I'm sure Gary will survive. Its not like he's lacking for water :)
ReplyDeleteYears ago, hurricane hitting North Carolina, in laws’ summer cottage, 6 HOURS inland, was knocked off its foundation from hurricane winds traveling inland. Incredible.
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear Sam & home are safe! But it is indeed so sad to see the devastation in NC. Prayers to all dealing with the aftermath...
ReplyDeleteI am glad you have good news to report too!
ReplyDeleteOh, Gary. LOL.
Sending prayers and good vibes for Gary!! Glad Sam is okay - weather can be scary!!!
ReplyDeleteOmg the video! Wow. Thanks for filling us in on Sam. I hope he can ‘spruce’ Gary up a bit. Also—yahoo to not being the only one who has named a tree or 3 in our yard!! Chrissy
