Matching family shirts - I'm impressed that she got Brian to wear his! Look at how big Logan looks...and those tiny Adidas shoes are killing me, so cute!
Birthday cake - beginning...
Birthday cake - end. She said he loved the icing, which isn't surprising considering that we've been training him with Blue Baker treats, ha!
I know the next year will be full of even more changes, and I'm so glad that Logan's parents share him so much with us. It's the next best thing to having a grandchild of my own!

We went to Dallas on Saturday after Jeff got his run in - we had a belated birthday celebration for Allie, who turned 29 a couple of weeks ago. Our gift to her was a clothes shopping trip, and dang, I have to say it's amazing to shop for clothes with someone who looks good in everything.
We had a great time and she kind of randomly bought a new sofa at Ikea - we were just there to return some things and I wanted to look at throw pillows and fake plants, so we thought we safe from the lure of furniture since it's upstairs from the marketplace, but there in the clearance section was a super cute comfy couch at a price Allie couldn't pass up. It was delivered on Monday, so Jeff and I got to see it and sit on it before we headed home:
Several of Allie's throw pillows looked good with the new sofa - I kept trying them out. Why is it easier to decorate someone else's place than your own?
I know, not the greatest shot - I was trying to take a picture so I could send it to Sam, who I think Allie was texting...really we just should have facetimed it. She was using our old brown leather-in-some-areas sofa that has not only lived in our house, but in another apartment before this one. It had seen better days and Allie's apartment looks much nicer with this lighter-colored couch in it.

Our weather for the weekend is looking to be stormy, so who knows if anyone will get a run in - rain running is one thing, but if there's thunder and lightening, that's a big no go. I'm going to hold off on running, regardless, because while my calf feels much better, it still hurt when I did a little test run yesterday. Heal calf, HEAL! Other than that, we'll be sheltering in place thanks to a big football game in town - ack, too many people!
Have a great weekend!
Great picture of Logan and the cake! Boy he sure is growing up fast! That year flew by!
ReplyDeleteSorry to read that your calf is still having issues hopefully it will heal up soon.
Ugh to storms on the weekend. Why can't they confine there selves to weekdays when there are no special plans? I think our weather will be its usual sunny and too hot.
Have a great weekend in spite of the weather.
The year really did fly by!
DeleteI think you did a fantastic job of decorating your home, but if you want to share your skills here, please feel free! LOL. It's really not funny. Interesting how your house suddenly seems so dated. How does that happen?
ReplyDeleteThanks, I will share the living room decor once I get a couple more things for it. As for a house suddenly seeming dated, it's odd - despite wanting to change my countertops to granite, I thought my old cabinets were still modern looking...until I saw the new cabinets, and especially when I compare old and new pictures. Crazy how it crept up on us!
DeleteLogan is such a cutie! I wonder why we can't face-smash cake as we get older. I mean honestly if it's good cake that's what I feel like doing haha.
ReplyDeleteThat was a fun visit to Dallas. Funny that you gave Allie clothes shopping trip right around "back to school" time. I had Gracie for a couple days last week and she was telling me all about her back to school shopping and I realized that was something that has completely gone off my radar all these years later. It made me feel nostalgic for it.
I think Julia mentioned she's planning a cake smash for her 50th birthday - I'd love to see her do it!
DeleteAgree with you on not being up on back-to-school shopping now...so weird, it was such a huge part of our lives for so long and then? POOF.
Me and Logan--we both love the icing! I can't believe he's a year old already.
ReplyDeleteThat is a nice couch--great to get it at a bargain price!
Nothing like good icing, right?!
DeleteI love that Logan is the official blog baby and wow, it's been a year already! Where does the time go?
ReplyDeleteYou are so right, its is easier to decorated someone else's place than it is our own!
Believe me, I look at Logan and wonder the same thing myself...how has a year passed by so quickly?
DeleteYes, heal calf!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe Logan is a year old! How is that possible? His cake looks so good. I think it's so fun how parents do the smash cake now! I want an adult smash cake!
The new sofa looks great. Although, I have to admit, I was hoping for modeling shots of the new outfits! Happy belated, Allie!
You should do a smash cake for your birthday! Why not?? :)
DeleteIt's easier decorating someone else's house because you aren't paying for it and you know you don't have to live with the decision LOL. It's less pressure :D That is some greeeeen frosting on the cake!
ReplyDeleteVery true - I found some throw pillows for our couches but didn't buy them because I was sure they could be found cheaper, elsewhere. Turns out nope, that is the going rate for throw pillows. It IS a challenge to spend money on the smaller things that pull a room together.
DeleteHappy Birthday Logan!!
ReplyDeleteThe couch looks good!!!!
