WWU - A Good Kind of Sameness

Running continues to be going as well as it could be, considering the time of year.  I'm definitely in a take it easy mode, which has made my runs feel good because I'm not trying to push mileage.  I will happily take getting a run in and feeling decent afterward, thank you very much.   There is plenty of time to work a little harder when the weather cools down, plus I like the idea of getting a good shorter distance base that I can work on - again, when the weather is cooler - to get a little faster.  Tiny goals, but goals nonetheless.

After our run on Saturday, we were all hanging around on the driveway of the clubhouse when the cutest thing happened - Logan was standing up (holding onto someone for balance - Jimmymeow, I think) when Mason got interested in him.  He walked over and grabbed a water bottle and brought it to Logan, who opened his mouth, so Mason put the bottle in his mouth.  It was closed, so nothing came out, but they repeated this several times, each time with Logan opening his mouth as Mason approached with the bottle.  It was so sweet to see Mason helping Logan like that, and Logan accepting it - I think we witnessed the beginnings of a friendship right there!

When we arrived at Blue Baker, our baker had already left for the day (he works at night to bake the bread so it's fresh in the morning), but he'd left us a bonanza of goodies:
Two loaves of ciabatta bread plus a ton of brownies!

Good food and conversation flowed, but after a while, Logan needed some entertaining, so his dad showed us the latest thing he likes to do:
Bouncing around on dad's shoulders made Logan laugh so much that we all were laughing with him!

Later on I got to hold him for a bit and showed him the baby in my phone - meaning that I turned the selfie camera on - and he liked that baby quite a bit:
I had a few blurrier shots that he took as he pulled the phone toward his face - so cute!

So, running and babies - not a bad way to spend a Saturday morning!

  1. Awww Logan is such a cutie pie! :)

I always think of you during my really humid runs, like this morning, and figure if you can trudge through in humidity AND Texas heat, I can deal with the grossness here in the Midwest. I'm further south than I've ever lived before (by 2 whole hours ha ha), but hoping there's only a month left of this weather here. We should be all set to have some good fall running :)

    1. I am so jealous that you are only looking at one more month of this kind of weather...we easily have three more months, yuck.

  2. It's fun to get out of a routine and try something new, but there's always comfort in going back to that routine. I know a little about that right now.. :p

  3. Awe, I wish there were pictures of Logan and Mason's interaction!

I've been feeling bad about my summer running. I have lots of time to get lots of miles in but it just isn't happening. Perhaps fall will be better.

  5. This is honestly the first summer where I've shortened my runs rather than lengthen them. Between the crazy humidity and higher than normal temps (for us) and a nagging leg issue, I just haven't felt like going more than 3 miles - and some days not even that. Quite honestly, it feels weird and I've had a few mental struggles over it.

Babies are fun but I have to admit to being in the stage of my life where I find them fun for a bit then I'm perfectly good with handing them back over to their people lol.

    1. It makes me feel better to know that you aren't running long distances while you deal with Texas weather - sometimes I think I should just suck it up and run 5 miles, but then I remember that it's OK if I don't. ;)

    1. I know I forget how hard it is to run in the summer, because it surprises me each year when I start to struggle.

  9. Yes, this is totally the time of year for easy runs and not pushing it! Otherwise running will be so miserable you won't remember you like it when it's "nice" out again! I am in the same boat - taking it easy!

Aww, it's going to be so fun to watch those two grow together - for you AND us! :)
