FMM - It's Not The End of The World...

It's been a week over here.  And by that, I mean, I am worn out.  I'm so tired of living in a construction zone - seriously, I would never have believed the amount of dust that is still coming from this renovation.  And I know, this is something that we are lucky to get to do, so I shouldn't complain, but dang.  I wish we were finished.  Spoiler alert:  we aren't.  This is going into next week.  It's not the end of the world, I know in a few weeks all of these feelings will be gone, but argh.

And maybe it's because I'm feeling tired, but I had my regularly scheduled, like clockwork every 8-10 weeks, hair appointment with my hairdresser of over a decade, for Wednesday, and I found out on Tuesday that she up and retired from doing hair on Monday!  She's opened a country cafe restaurant in the small town where she lives.  My first thought was "well fine, I'll just go gray and have long hair" because the thought of finding a new hairdresser at this point seemed insurmountable.  Yes I might have had a dramatic moment, and I'm sure it was mostly caused by being worn out from the renovation, but that came without warning.  After I collected myself, I reread her Facebook announcement and saw that she was referring her clients to other stylists in the salon that she owns, so I called one, and after I spoke to her I felt better.  I haven't had to give any direction beyond length to my hairdresser for years - she knows my hair and would do highlights and lowlights according to what it needed.  The new stylist said that my old one would give her all the details on my hair, so hopefully that will translate well.  It's just hair, it's not the end of the world, and I'm not super picky about my hair - but dang.  I hate this kind of change.

The last straw for me this week was my computer monitor - I inherited it from one of my kadults when they upgraded, and for quite a while now, it's had connection problems.  I have a great computer that should turn on immediately when I move the mouse, and it does...but the monitor stays black.  Swapping out cables, jiggling it, trying all kinds of tricks to make it work has been my M.O. for over a year, but on Wednesday afternoon when it stayed black, that was it.  I went to Best Buy, picked out a monitor, called Sam for a bit of technical assistance, and bought the damn thing - and then went home and got it hooked up and that's why you're reading this blog post today, because otherwise, I was dead in the water.  It's not the end of the world to be without a computer for a couple of days, but this was something that I was tired of dealing with...so I dealt with it, HA!

We are having a garage sale tomorrow - hopefully the weather will cooperate because right now, there's a good chance of rain.  I really want to get all the stuff out of the garage - we have lots of random items like the French doors from my office, light fixtures, our old washer and dryer - and once all that stuff is gone, I can get our new garage door scheduled and installed.  Fingers crossed for dry weather!

Here's a picture of Paco on his new dog bed in my office - I had to get him one as the tile was just too hard on his tender body:
Dis makes my world gud, tanks mom.

Have a great weekend!

    1. Maybe because everything is coming together, but it seems to be getting worse!

  3. We're still sans microwave--it hasn't been as horrible as you might think! A computer, tho, is another story...

    1. I could live without a microwave - haha, I just did! But a computer, NOPE. I need my technology!

  4. I do believe if I had house renovations, lost my long-time hairdresser, and had issues with my computer you'd find me in bed with the covers pulled up over my head. You're doing better than you think you are!

Paco likes his new bed! But I don't see his blankie... does that mean he's over it now that he has something new?

    1. I'd love to stay in bed but the contractors keep showing up at 8:00 am! I have promised myself a total veg out day when this is all done, thought.

Paco would love to have his blankie on the new dog bed - it's around here somewhere in this chaos, I just need to unearth it. Things get moved on a daily basis, and not by me...

  5. The woman that has done my hair for 10 years took a leave of absence so now I'm seeing one of the other stylists in the same salon. I think it's good to change things up but now I have a dilemma when the first one comes back. Do I go back? Awkward!

    1. I'm hoping this is the case...that change is good when it comes to hair. And, not to be negative, but it's hard to start and keep a restaurant going, and I've already wondered, if she comes back to hair, would I switch if I end up liking the new stylist? Hmmmmmmm.

  6. Yeah all those things might be minor, but when you add them all up into one week - man, I feel your pain. Hang in there - all will be well soon. :)

  7. Hairdressers! I think the same thing. Sometimes a change is a good thing. Sometimes I dream about when my hairdresser will retire :)

LOVE Paco's new bed! You know, I think I was lucky with J the contractor. He worked alone, so there wasn't as much mess, plus he was very tidy, and vacuumed at the end of each day! BUT, it took a LOT longer for everything to be done than your job is taking. Just keep planning your veg out day. Actually, it should be a veg out week!! And pretty soon, you will have a new house to enjoy, and some pretty nice vacation days :)

  8. Oh boy do I understand your stress with the hairdresser! I still see my old stylist in Chicago (who I have been seeing since 2007) for color because the 5 hour drive is preferable to trusting someone new with that. She has a client who travels from Nashville too, so I'm not even her only long-distance client! When you find someone you like, you stick with them! I hope your new stylist is just as good (or even better)!

As a connoisseur of dog beds, Heidi is extremely jealous of Paco's new bed. Every morning when I go to "work" we move her bed down the hall from the bedroom to my office, which is obviously not as nice as having a new, dedicated office bed.

  10. You can TOTALLY complain about the work and how it's affecting your life! Complain away! It's hard :(

What a week. Fingers crossed the new hairdresser does well. And I hope you end up loving the new monitor!

Good luck on the garage sale!!!

  11. Cool bed Paco!

When we did our living room and kitchen I lived upstairs in my bedroom for 3 months and cooked in my garage. R. did almost everything on his own and that takes time. I still remember the first night back in our living room when everything was ready: heaven!

  12. What a week. I think you deserve a spa day. Or at least a massage.

    Love Paco's new bed.
