After all the chaos of the renovation, I was ready for some order in my life, so I ordered a new shoe organizer for my closet and had to laugh at the warning on the box:
Well alrighty then, I won't unpack the packaging from that side!  Forbid!
Ten kajillion pieces later, I had it assembled!
Once I got a wooden mallet, it was pretty easy to put together - and I didn't end up using several of the shelves, so I could make a smaller unit for another closet at some point.  Here's the link if you're interested (and yes that's an affiliate link).
I moved one of my old shoe organizers to the front of the closet - this houses my most-used shoes right now (running shoes and summer sandals...OK, flip flops, mostly).  It feels good to have everything in its place now - my closet was stuffed with tons of boxes during the renovation and I could barely walk a couple feet into it.

With the dining room looking so fresh and new, I was inspired to create a table tableau - or is it a tablescape?  It took me a couple of days to get it mostly where I wanted it to be, but I like it:
From afar...
Close up!  Luckily the table is big enough that Jeff and I can sit across from each other at either end for meals without having to disturb the display.

I'll have another update on the renovation on Monday - except for a few odds and ends, it's just about finished, THANK GOODNESS.  Have a great weekend!

  1. Thanks, Shelley. I love the shoe shelves. I would need to leave the top always open. Organizers call it, “room to grow”, pet lovers know that it is really a spot for the

    1. Oh, I guess the cat icon doesn’t work on google. Those question marks are a cat.

    2. And now I'm wondering if Henry will explore enough to discover the shoe rack, because you are right - that's the perfect spot for a kitty!

  2. Thanks Shelley for the gift certificate.I appreciate it and it lifted my spirits this morning to see that I won something.
I admire your ability to put together your own shoe organizer. Putting things together or building things in general is one skill I haven't conquered yet.
    Have a nice weekend!

  3. Your closet makes me jealous! I love mine for it's length but hate it for it's awkward shape and the fact that we also have to use it for storage. I want a nicely organized, lit, carpeted closet - wah! Can't wait to see the finished renovations.

    1. There were two larger tubs in the bottom, holding files, that are currently waiting for me to go through (and probably toss 99% of the stuff) - but they are now in our second guest room, and they will not be returning to my closet. It's my little piece of paradise, HAHA.

  5. I LOVE closet organization and yours looks great. I often have a hard time putting shoes back on the rack. It's so much easier just to throw them in front of it instead..haha

    1. I have to rack my shoes - it's too satisfying for me to not see them all lined up. Weird, I know...

  7. Woo-hoo! What a nice surprise this morning! What a generous giveaway...I completely missed the part where you said you were giving away gift cards to TEN people, so totally didn't expect this.
Oh and I'm also super jealous of your closet! Looking forward to seeing more pics of the house:)

  9. Your closet IS amazing! I have a nice closet. Now I just need to spend a little more time making it look nicer. I was surprised to see all of your running shoes. So when you get new ones, you don't automatically get rid of the old ones, I guess. I LOVE your table display!!

    1. There are two pairs of walking shoes in there, plus when running shoes get retired from running, they are moved down to Planet Fitness level...and also, there are a few pairs that I can't bear to let go yet. But most of my old, really old running shoes are donated. I MISS THEM ALL! LOL.

And yes, you should make your closet look pretty - I bet you'd love it! Thanks for the table display comment - it wasn't as easy to do as I thought it would be. So much wrong along the way to what you see in the picture - and while it's easy to see the wrong, it was hard to figure out the right (or better, anyway).

  10. I won! I want to thank you and the Academy...sorry, that's when I win my Oscar. But seriously, thank you, you are very generous. And very organized. Love the tablescape. My tablescape is an artful arrangement of my handbag and keys, the day's mail, yesterday's mail...

  11. I'm total envious of your closet and your organization. Those fun and colorful bins and a great pop of color too.

  13. Your tablespace is amazing! It looks like it belongs in an Italian villa. Love it!

And yay for organizing and getting parts of the house back (I love love LOVE organizing).

Shelley, I am so thankful for the giftcard (that you already sent, thanks). I cut back on SB after I bought my car (we'll see how long that lasts) so this is going to be a TREAT! THANK YOU!
