FMM - Abbreviated

I'm fairly low maintenance when it comes to my beauty regime, which could also, quite rightly, be interpreted as lazy.  Most of the time I can't be bothered to do much beyond washing my face in the shower, putting on a sunscreen moisturizer if I'll be going outdoors, and forcing myself to put on a minimal amount of eye shadow and mascara.  But, as you know, I've been playing around with eye shadow a bit more in the last month or so, and because I was doing that, I noticed that my eyebrows, which were never much to begin with, had a lot of white/gray hairs in them, which made them disappear even more than normal.

I mentioned this to my hairdresser when I had my usual cut and highlight appointment this week (side note, I'm getting a nice streak of gray hair right by my part, so I fully expect to look like a blonde Stacy London one of these days).  Anyway, she said she'd put some dye on them while my hair was cooking:
This is my version of better living through chemistry, LOL.

And BOOM - I have instant eyebrows!  How did I not know this was an option, and why have I not done this sooner?
Afterward, with eyebrows plus new foundation to even out my skintone plus add moisturizer and SPF, all in one step! (told you I was lazy).

Here's a comparison shot from when I was playing around with eye shadow:
It's subtle, but you definitely can see the difference.  Left is dyed brows; right is brows with some help from an eyebrow pencil, so not even fully natural.

Anyway, I'm ridiculously pleased with how easy this was to do.  It will be interesting to see how long this lasts, but I'll probably do it again next time I go back for my hair appointment.

OK, that's all I have time for - we are headed out today to choose our slabs of granite, which should be interesting...who will win, me or Jeff?  Actually we've been pretty good about agreeing with each other's choices - except for the granite.  So we'll see what happens today, mwahahaha.

Have a great weekend!

  1. You can definitely tell the difference in the pictures once you had your eyebrows "colored" I like the look and this is my favorite line of the whole blog today "This is my version of better living through chemistry."

Good luck with choosing the granite. You should win since you probably have to see it more than Jeff.

  2. I dye my roots every 5 weeks and foils once or twice a year. I have been since I was 35. I’d be rich I guess if I went grey.

Eyebrows so far a thick and dark.

You always look great in your photos.

    1. My hairdresser does not charge a ton for what she does, but yes...if I added it up over the years, I'd probably cringe. Still, it's necessary for my well-being. :)

  3. I've never thought to have my brows dyed! I always pluck the grays (which probably does result in more popping up) and then fill in with a gel.

Your "after" pic looks great! Definitely a noticeable difference. And I have one of those moisturizer/SPF/foundations too - so easy!

    1. What kind of gel are you using?

    2. I use ka-Brow by Benefit, which you can try at Ulta and is a cream-gel according to their website. It's held up even through swimming, so I highly recommend it!

  4. YOU get to choose the granite!!! Can hardly wait to see what you choose. I knew that people dyed their eyebrows, but for some reason I never thought of doing it because they were gray! I just keep mine covered with my bangs :)

    1. We ended up agreeing on the granite, but believe me, it was going to be black, and it was going to be matte finish. Luckily Jeff jumped on board that train, because it had already left the station. ;)

  5. I used to get my brows done but the color seems to disappear so quickly I gave up and went to a pencil. I figure it is what it is at this point.

Hey, maybe you guys will find an option for granite that is neither your or his. Too bad there aren’t little samples you could take home and let lay around to see what you really like!

  6. I didn't even realize that dying eyebrows was a thing, but hey, why not?

    1. Glad to hear I'm not the only one who didn't know about this!

  7. I am low maintenance too, but one of my goals of turning 50 is to take more time in my care of myself. Love the brows and good luck picking granite!

    1. I'm trying to take a little more care, but a lot of years of laziness makes it a challenge!

  8. My mom had some procedure like a tattoo of her eyebrows--I can't remember what it was called. When she first got it done, she looked like Uncle Leo on Seinfeld but the color has settled nicely and it looks so natural! I have no eyebrows, so I'm going to have to consider that.

    1. You made me LOL with the Uncle Leo reference! Glad her eyebrows settled down.

  9. I had no idea they could dye eyebrows, but it makes complete sense to do this LOL! I've always had "fluffier" eyebrows and never did anything with them, but now as I approach 50, I'm noticing they are getting gray hairs and seeming lighter. I haven't bothered with a pencil, but I could maybe get into having it done periodically! You'll win the granite battle, I'm sure. Smart men will always defer in the end :D

    1. LOL on the granite battle.

I'm all for making things look better, but truthfully, I lose interest fairly quickly, so this whole eyebrow dying thing seems to be the way to go for me.

  10. Oh interesting, I had no idea on the eyebrows. I have heard of people getting a of a bit of a temporary tattoo on them. Anyway, great fix for you! Now I have to go get caught up on Shelley's life; I've been out of the loop. Chrissy

  11. Ooo, can't wait to see the granite you picked out!

That is so brilliant with the eyebrows. So much better than penciling them in every day! You look fab! And I have a very lazy routine too - eyebrows, eyeshadow, liner, and mascara. Nothing on my skin. Ha!

    1. I didn't use anything on my skin for years, until suddenly I realized that I looked a little bit *ahem* refreshed if I put on some foundation. But I was probably in my 40s before that started happening, so you've got plenty of time to enjoy your minimal routine. :)
