That said, when I was writing my recent post about the garage renovation, I was planning on linking the items that we bought because if you're like me, when you read about something like what the blogger is writing about, you sometimes want to check it out more. As for me, I've bought a lot of items based on other blogger's recommendations...and for what I recommend, well, I'm not an expert, but I am a real user and regular readers know that I pretty much tell the truth about anything I'm reviewing, good, bad, and ugly.
For example (and I'm linking this, FYI), months ago I saw this Mueller food chopper being raved about by another blogger, or maybe it was someone I follow on Instagram - I actually don't remember at this point. I hemmed and hawed and finally bought it, and boy howdy, I love this thing! You can chop an onion so fast that there's no time for tears! I'm sure I clicked on a link and that person got a small commission from my purchase - and I don't have a problem with that.
By the way, if you buy this be sure and use the handy dandy cleaning brush that's included to get the grid blade clean...Clueless Joe over here discovered the hard way that the blade is very sharp!
Anyway, I think the affiliate link works if you click from anything I've linked to Amazon, or also, if you click on the picture in the sidebar, that will take you to Amazon - you don't have to buy the item I've linked but anything you purchase, if you've gone there via my blog, will put some pennies in my account. This blog doesn't cost me a lot to maintain - I pay a little bit for extra storage each month because apparently Google doesn't want to host the nine gajillion pictures I've posted on here for free. And I also pay for my domain, but really, it's not a lot considering the fun that I get from being able to blather here and interact with you guys.
I hope this doesn't offend any of you - I'm not trying to do a money grab, but if you're like me, you probably do shop with Amazon; if you'd like to shop through my link, great - thank you. If not, no worries, it's all good.
Oh, you might be wondering why I put a picture of dog food for my Amazon link? Well, when I looked back at all of my orders for last year, this was what I ordered most frequently. YOU'RE WELCOME, PACO.
Tanks for feeding me, mom...I 'preciate it.
Win-win: I was given an Amazon gift card as a gift and I’ve slowly been using it to buy things I want but wouldn’t ordinarily buy. This chopper just became one of those items - so I got a fun new kitchen tool and you got some pennies!
ReplyDeleteThank you for ordering through my link, and YAY! I know you're going to love that chopper - for as little cooking as I do compared to you, I get a ton of use out of it...onions, zucchini, red peppers, carrots, sweet potato - it's so fast!
DeleteI do Amazon affiliate links on my blog too. Sometimes I make a few pennies, most months nothing but it's better than having ads, right?
ReplyDeleteYep - although I just won't do ads, so that wasn't going to be an option.
DeleteIts only fair that you are compensated for entertaining me. I don't order much from Amazon but when I do, it makes me happy to think Paco is winning.
ReplyDeletePaco and I thank you, Barbara! :)
DeleteI looked at the dog food first :) Wow, Paco is a very privileged doggie! I'm not telling Sophie. Although she does eat Turkey and Sweet Potato dog food. And she doesn't seem to have any complaints about it (well, she does complain that I don't ever feed her as much as she would want to eat.)
ReplyDeleteHaha, you can tell he's an only dog...plus that food is the grain-free desperation of a dog-mom who is trying to alleviate his allergies.
DeleteI have links on my site as well. It is small bits of money, although I will say one month I got a $200 check because someone had clicked through my site and then proceeded to order other things on amazon to the tune of 20 fitbits or something like that (which I don't even link to). Alas, that only happened once LOL
ReplyDeleteDang, you hit the jackpot with that fitbit order!
DeleteI don't mind a few ads on a blog but I'm like you that I will stop reading it the ads interfere with the content or there is music! I've been startled a time or too as well.
ReplyDeleteI have heard that someday I might have to purchase extra storage but luckily (and surprisingly) I have not had to do that yet. Can you please touch on that a little more?
Gosh, I hit the storage cap years ago - I'm surprised you haven't yet! I ended up buying more storage through Google (since Blogger is part of Google) and I pay $1.99/month for that - and I can post all the pictures I want, woohoo!
DeleteDo you know what size your pictures are when you upload them. I don't know if this is try or not but I heard that the photos only go against your storage space if they are over 1000x1000. I always try to resize mine to smaller if I can. Again I don't know if there is truth tobthe size thing or not.
DeleteInteresting - I don't know how to resize my pictures so I'm sure they are huge. But that would make sense, if I've have to buy more storage but you haven't, yet.
DeleteI just ran across your blog, don't know how I ended up here, but I'm finding you very entertaining. Do tell, what makes Paco the "Wonder Dog"? It's good he has high self-esteem. :=) My dogs need some of that.
ReplyDeleteWelcome, Grace! Your comment made me laugh. :) Paco DOES think highly of himself. He will also pose nicely for pictures - in fact, he's so used to me taking pictures of him that as soon as I start taking a picture of anything, he will come skidding into the shot...self-esteem, he has it, LOL.
DeleteI'm with you, I don't do ads either. Some blogs are covered with them, and annoying popups that cover the text. I always wonder about malware and stuff!
