Friday Mishmash

Maybe because it's been cold, foggy, and rainy, which in turn has made me want to hibernate under a pile of blankets, but I've been really caught up in watching the winter Olympics this year.  I've been loving all the excitement and am rooting for each athlete to do their best and stick their landing or make their jump successfully, no matter what nation they are from.  And then I want the U.S. to win all the medals, so go figure how that works out in my head, ha!

Also, advertising works:
Apollo Ono schilling, with the music of Bruno Mars?  SOLD!

The chocolate really is gold-colored, too.  Taste?  It's OK, not my favorite, but it was fun to try...Jeff and I split one last night while watching the Olympics, of course.

Along with the big stuff we have planned for our house, we have some additional wants and needs that we're going to take care of, too.  For example, it's not a super big need, but I do want a new top for my desk, with the reason being that the laminate has worn off along the edges and I catch my clothing on it quite a bit.  Also, a new top is only $30 or $45, depending on the size.  I am considering getting the smaller version of what I currently have, so I taped off where my desk would end if I did that, to see if I would really like it:
Not the greatest picture of the desk, but I had to include it because my blog dog immediately posed when I started taking pictures - I've trained him so well!

Here's where you can see what the size difference would be.  I wouldn't need the center leg support with the smaller desktop, I'd just slide the set of drawers over.

I'm still testing this out - I even moved the drawers over, which does cut into how much leg room I have when I swivel my chair around.  I probably won't go smaller.  I think.  Ack!  Why are decisions like this so hard?

There is a fairly new pet store in town that carries the iced dog cookies that Paco loves so much, for only $1.49, so naturally that means that every time we go there, we bring him home a treat:
Why wudn't yu?

And, as we've said over the years, Paco is no Jackie (our dachshund) - she would have every crumb of cookie, icing, and anything else that remotely resembled food licked up from the floor.  I'm embarrassed for Paco, as a dog, that I have to break out my Dustbuster after he finishes a cookie to clean up after him.
I see no ting wrong wif dat.

After our run and breakfast, we have plans to start packing up our house, which apparently is what you have to do when you're replacing all the flooring - everything gets moved.  So basically we're moving without actually moving.  But I have a large cabinet full of items that I don't want broken, so I'll be wrapping and packing away - and soon, we'll be doing the same for the kitchen...fun times!

Have a great weekend!

  1. Love the Olympics. Need to try that candy bar. Just cuz.

Hate packing. That’s why we are staying in our big house. Forever.

  2. I just love the color of your office! My husband would never let me paint the walls that color. He enjoys bland things...

    1. I can't do bland, and luckily, Jeff is on board for a bright and colorful house. I love my office color so much that if I repaint it, I'll do the same color!

  3. Go with the bigger size...(stay with rather). You’ll regret it otherwise!!

All that packing...gives you the chance to purge unneeded stuff too!!

  4. Oooh that Hershey bar sounds yummy! I've seen it but haven't tried it. Good luck with your new desk top and packing! Your little puppy is so precious!

  5. Goodness I hope they leave you a room or two that you're able to walk in! Maybe you can declutter a bit while you're packing - that's always a good thing!

    1. We will have our bedroom and bathroom, until the end, when we hit the carpet stage. Luckily that won't be until all the dust has settled with everything else. And decluttering - heck yes, that's happening!

  6. We did that 2 years ago. I rented a 53ft trailer moved everything in it and we lived in 2 rooms for 8 weeks. Tiny house living at it's best. Good luck and just know when it's done you'll forget all the inconveniences.

    1. Good idea on the trailer - and thanks for the reminder about forgetting all the inconveniences once it's finished...we were wondering today just how long we'd be going without a washer and dryer. Might have to hit the laundromat during this process!

  7. You know I was laughing so hard that I snorted at your description of Jackie vs. Paco. There's just no need for a dust buster around here. If any dog happens to leave a crumb, Sophie is right there to take care of it :)

Yep, I refer to the time that I had my floors done as "I moved without moving." But for me it was a great time of decluttering. Just a few months ago, I went through some stuff that was still out in the storage shed two years later, and took another trip to the thrift store. But you are going to have SO MUCH FUN!!!

    1. And I'm cracking up at the thought of Sophie cleaning up after the other dogs!

I'm definitely doing some major decluttering, and will be selling some things as well. Craigslist plus a garage sale - everything must go! ;)

  8. I like your office space! I can see why you are hesitant to shorten your desk, I would be too. But then again I really don't do well with change!

  9. We would love to have our wood floors professionally done. We didn't do the upstairs in our house when we moved in. The thought of where to put 3 bedrooms worth of stuff while they were being worked on is enough to make me curl into a ball LOL.

Watching the Olympics makes me want to try snowboarding for some weird reason.

  10. I love your office! I'm thinking about taking one of the college kids' rooms and making an office. They'll never need it again, right? LOL. It's odd Paco didn't get the cleaning crumbs gene. I mean, isn't that what dogs are for?

  11. Aww, Paco, eat those crumbs!

I hope packing everything up went well! I say stay with the larger desk. It doesn't seem like you need to make it smaller - it looks like the right size for that room!
