Today's product is Bumble and bumble Don't Blow It (H)air Styler:
Papa bear, Mama bear, Baby bear - I ended up with all of the sizes!
I am lucky to have thick, healthy hair. I don't need to use expensive hair products to keep my hair looking nice - mostly I stick with a step above the basics in terms of shampoo and conditioner (for the last several months I've been rotating between Herbal Essences and Gliss brands). But quite a while back, I went with my friend Cary to her hair appointment, and while she was getting her hair done, I spent my time perusing all of the Bumble and bumble products that the salon carried. Everything smelled so good! I wanted to bring home quite a few items, but the prices stopped me - I spend between $3 and $5 each on shampoo and conditioner, and this stuff was about $25 each. So that was a no-go for me.
While my cheapness stopped me from purchasing, I continued my Bumble and bumble lust, and gave my email to their website so they could tempt me with all of their specials. Eventually, one thing really caught my eye - a product that you could use when you don't want to blow dry your hair...which, with as hot as it's been, sounded pretty appealing to me. I've been letting my hair air dry for quite a while now, and it gets a little wavy, but I also end up with a halo of frizz. I kept putting the Don't Blow It in my online shopping basket but could never get myself to click the final "purchase" part, until they offered a summer hair kit consisting of a smaller size (the Mama bear in the picture above), along with a primer spray and a surf spray:
I love everything. I don't use the primer every day, but I pretty much do use the Don't Blow It every day, and I play with the surf spray often - it's the first surf/beach spray product that doesn't make my hair crunchy when it dries. Don't Blow It makes my natural waves slightly more wavier and I even end up with some curls around my face, too. All I have to do is work a little bit of the product into towel-dried hair, comb it through (actually I use a wet brush), and then scrunch and fluff my hair with my fingers. That's it! Sometimes I'll step outside in my backyard to let the heat dry it faster - I usually water the plants while I'm doing this. Here's a terrible picture of my hair while it's wet:
Turns out, it's hard to take a picture of the back of your head...
And an equally terrible picture of my hair when it's dry:
Me on a typical day - no effort on the hair, just wearing sunscreen moisturizer and a little bit of mascara and eyeliner. I roll very minimalist most of the time, and finding a hair product that makes me feel styled without having to do anything is right up my alley!
I can't get over how wavy and soft my hair is - normally, to make it wavy there's a lot of hair spray or beach waves spray in it, which makes it crispy and crunchy feeling. And I've not come across any other curl product that doesn't weigh my hair down - for me, the Bumble and bumble Don't Blow It is a winner! I used it for nearly a month before I broke down and ordered the full-sized tube; when I placed my order, I also received a couple even smaller-sized tubes of the product, so I'm all set now!
Are any of you Bumble and bumble fans? Have any amazing hair products that you would recommend? Let me know in the comments, por favor!
You look great! I would love to try the products. :) Thanks
ReplyDeleteI NEED THIS. I hate blow drying my hair in general, and especially in the summer. Who wants to shoot hot air at their face for 15+ minutes in a tiny room in 90 degree weather? Not me! I bought a similar product recently and am not thrilled with the results. Maybe I'll have to give this Shelley-approved one a shot! Your hair looks great! :)
ReplyDeleteThe smaller kit is available at Sephora, if you want to go that route with trying it - let me know if you like it!
DeleteIt seems like we have similar hair. Mine is very thick too and very wavy if I dont flat iron it and let's face it, in this heat I haven't been blow drying or flat ironing it. Lately my hair has been feeling very elastic-y when it is wet. I don't color my hair so I don't know what that could be from. I have stepped it up and have been spending more on shampoo lately to see what helps. Maybe you have another suggestion for me this week?
ReplyDeleteThis is it for my hair suggestions - like I said, I'm pretty minimalist. But for me, going beyond shampoo and conditioner with the Don't Blow It made a nice change - oh, and when I wash my hair the next day? It feels softer and more conditioned, thanks to the product.
DeleteLucky! My own hair is that awful not quite straight, not quite wavy and I have absolutely no body. My only choice is blow dry and style or pull into a pony tail.
ReplyDeleteI am glad you broke down and bought yourself this product. I just feel like at a certain time of life, you should have the exact things you love.
You are right, it's OK to buy something that you really love, but I'm weird about spending money on certain things...like, stamps. But a pair of running shoes? TAKE ALL MY MONEY!!!
DeleteMy hair is horrible this time of year. I just pull it back into a ponytail.
ReplyDeleteI've never tried bumble and bumble but always wanted to; I'm like you--cheap! I also have thick hair and with a lot of fuzzy baby hairs growing out from when I had Maddie over two years ago, I really should start using some kind of product!
ReplyDeleteBumble & Bumble really should do a giveaway on your site. It sounds like a great product! Now I want to try it too! It looks good on you.
ReplyDeleteMy hair goes every which way and I dry it to straighten it in the morning. If it is humid, I get frizz and waves LOL. I've never seen this brand before.
