FMM - BREAKING NEWS!!

This is what counts as breaking news in my town:
Blue Bell ice cream is being shipped!  OMG OMG OMG!!!  And with that, you can tell I'm not a native Texan.  It's just ice cream, people.

Listen, I know it's been a big deal since Blue Bell had to close all of their plants because of contamination, and their ice cream tastes good, sure - but the way people have gone on and on about how they've missed Blue Bell, and how nothing is as good has been a little ridiculous.  And our local TV news station, with THIS as breaking news?  Save me.

********************

I usually don't bother with making up a salad bar like this, but I had a friend over for dinner recently, and you know how women friends will appreciate things that husbands won't?  Well, this was the result:
All the fixin's for a personalized big salad.  Dang, I wish I would do this more often!

********************

This was driving Paco INSANE the other day:
The very NERVE of this squirrel, on our patio!  Oh, Paco was peeved!!!

Luckily, he's easily distracted:
 Mom?  MOM.  I need dez.
 Seriously, Mom.  I bery hungry.
Yeah, yeah, I'm a pushover...but how can I refuse that cute face?!

********************

I finished another sock!  I'm really pleased with how this came out - it fits my foot great and was super easy to knit:
By the way, it's really challenging to get a good angle while taking a picture of your foot - but check out that cuff.  I knit 1x1 rib, through the back loop, and it looks really sharp!
I'm partway through this sock's mate already.
Oh, and this is what you call living dangerously for a knitter - see the yarn attached?  That's all I had left after I bound off.  Any closer and I would have had to undo that bind off and the entire row before it.  But hey, I used up all of the yarn, which was my intention!

*******************

This was Tuesday - actual temperature was 105, but it felt even worse.

Another long run tomorrow, and another hot weekend ahead.  Needless to say, after the run we'll be hanging out indoors, only venturing outside to do this:
Hand watering our pot plants (yes I am a 12-year-old) - sprinklers aren't cutting it in this heat.

  Have a great weekend!

  1. Down here in the deep south of Florida we like/love Breyers ice cream.
What is this Blue Bell Ice cream? LOL

    That Paco is too cute!

I love your socks! However, when I read the part about 1X1 ribbing
I thought kill me now no way I'm doing that! I can barely stand 2X2 ribbing that I use on my sweaters. Socks are up next gotta tackle it the time has come this fall! Right now I have stopped knitting my cardigan sleeve (the second one) while I work on finishing my first baby blanket it is a Lion Brand pattern the diagonal baby blanket.

    Have a great weekend

    1. Yeah, 1X1 ribbing takes some inner strength to get through (LOL). At least it wasn't for an entire garment, like that baby sweater I made a while back - never again!

  2. Paco is adorbs! I lived in Ohio for 2 years and tried Graeters ice cream and have been hooked ever since. They started selling it in grocery stores down here and it's my fav so I admit I'm a little brand loyal on ice cream. LOL.

Try to stay cool this weekend!

    1. Never heard of Graeters - which is probably a good thing. I do not need to be getting hooked on ice cream! ;)

  3. My husband nearly cried when they stopped making Blue Bell. I don't know if they will carry it out here in Utah, but I'm sure when we go back to visit Tennessee this Oct he will be on the search!

Love the colorway of your yarn! I really have to learn to knit! I say that every time I see one of your great knitted items.

    1. Too funny about your husband's reaction to Blue Bell.

Yes, learn to knit! I bet you'd pick up on it really quick.

  5. Haha--as an ex-not-native-Texan, I had the exact same thought--its just ice cream, people. It was good ice cream, but not breaking news. Maybe that just means that your little berg is so safe that there was nothing more exciting to report?

The salad bar is SUPER. Really a fun thing, I think for women. I will be stealing that idea for my next Sewing Day!

Paco and the squirrel :) Where did you get heart shaped doggie treats? Sophie wants one.

LOVE the socks. Color is super delicious. And the temp is a good excuse to stay inside and just keep on knitting!

    1. Good to hear another Texan-ish person sees the same thing with the Blue Bell...

The heart-shaped cookies are from the farmer's market - if it's still happening when you're here, we'll have to get the Queen some treats!

  6. Oh man, I know. My sprinklers aren't doing enough, and my flower bed is slowly shriveling despite hand watering everything.

  7. A food picture! Love it - it reminds me of the summers you always made a HUGE ASS salad - and yes, you should do it more often, even if just for yourself - you are worth it!

Love the socks - you say it was easy but it looks complicated to me - hope the run goes okay in the heat! It was 65 degrees when I woke up but it will be in the 90s all weekend. I am secretly hoping for fall!

  8. Your socks turned out great! I use to live in TX and I don't know if I ever had Blue Bell ice cream! Why is it so great?

    1. Blue Bell is good, but honestly, it's just like other regional ice creams.

  9. I am impressed with your knitting skills! I attempted knitting a few years ago and just couldn't figure it out. I'm not coordinated enough- ha.

Your salad bar gave me a great idea for a guest that's coming for lunch next week!

  11. I don't know if they sell blue bell around here. However, we have the *best* ice cream stores around here that make there own. They are only open seasonally (probably a good thing). Martha's even made national television on a top ice cream spot.

Paco is so cute, and can I say that I covet that Louis style chair in the corner?

    2. I hate no edit sites!

That chair was my Grandmother's - I would gladly give it to you if you were closer. It's served many purposes but I'm ready to let it go and replace it with something more modern.

    3. Maybe you could recover the chair with a jazzy, Shelley fabric. Would you be happier with it painted black or white? (although I hesitate on the paint, but I'm trying to help you keep it since it was Gma's..ha)
And this project *would* after all, blog well. haha

  12. Ha ha, pot plants. Your pot plants are thriving, and they're in full view.
I LOVE this sock style. So glad it is a perfect fit. Wow it's gorgeous.
Here on the East Coast we have Turkey Hill ice cream, it's tasty,
but I have to stay away (from ice cream in general!) I hear the
Turkey Hill products are going nationwide. It started in
    Amish Country, Lancaster area, PA.
    Stay cool!

  14. We have a saying here in Holland: komkommertijd meaning cucumber time. This expression is used during summer time when everyone is on vacation and there isn't much interesting news. Something like your news would totally be on the news here too during Summer.

I love, love, love Paco. He's my favorite dog after Bella of course. He's so cute.
