Wednesday Workout Update - Tacos, Super Runner, Cool Car!

We had a lot of fun on our Saturday run - well, as much fun as you can have while running 4 miles in oppressive heat.  It was 75 degrees, which wasn't too bad, but the humidity levels were off the charts - 94% when we started.  It felt like we needed a machete to cut through the air, ugh.  But other than that, the run went well - Amy and I started out after everyone else left, and by doing our 2:1 intervals we caught up to two people (LOL).  It was an out-and-back, so at least we got to wave at and high five everyone as they returned...and look what was waiting for us when we got back:
Breakfast tacos!  Yes it looks like pizza boxes, but trust me, breakfast tacos were inside.

Doctoring them up with salsa, yum!
Our former organizer, Dale - now all he has to do is show up and run...I think he's enjoying it!
Even the dog got a treat - hey, she ran 4 miles, too!

We also started awarding our Runner of the Week, only this season it's extra fun because the person picked gets to wear the special cape that Amy made!  The Super Runner insignia goes along with our theme (which will be revealed in a couple of weeks when our shirts come in):
Edith rocked the cape!
It would be too hot to really run in right now, but seriously, I think it would be a blast to do a long run with that cape flying behind me!  Too bad I'm not eligible.

The other thing that made me laugh on Saturday was when Julia's husband, Scott (who has joined us this season) opened up the hood of his car.  Instantly, the other men in the group were there:
By the way, it makes a lot more sense of why Scott picked up only the yellow eggs on our egg hunt now...the man REALLY likes yellow!
This is what they were looking at...oooh, yellow!  Shiny!  Car parts!  Too funny.

********************

Yesterday when my alarm went off at 4:30 am, I did NOT want to get up to run hills.  But Julia was coming by to get me at 5:00, so I had to get dressed.  We got there and I still did not want to run hills.  But Amy stayed by my side and so I ran with her.  After the second hill, I did not want to continue.  But I did, and made it all the way to our goal, which was 6 hill repeats.  Am I glad I did this workout?  Heck yes.  But much as I like running, and running with my group, there still are times when I am not feeling it.  That was yesterday.  It happens...but the workout still happened, and a big reason why is because of my running buddies.  They mean the world to me in more ways than I can articulate, and are a big part of my running success.  Thanks, ladies!

    1. It was ridiculously hot, but at least the sun wasn't up yet...could have been even worse!

  7. I'd be the same way - I would disappoint myself if it were just me and I went back to bed, but knowing people were waiting for me? The people pleaser in me wouldn't let that happen.

    Way to get it done!

    1. Yeah, there are times when being a people pleaser comes in handy, and this was definitely one of them.

  9. I hear you on not feeling it. We had many days of 110-118 degrees here in the last month so my butt has been draggin' through the runs. Sure feels good when it's done though.

  10. I love Taco Cabana! Every time I'm down that way, I have to go there. So I'd be thrilled to see that at the end of any run! :) The Runner of the Week sounds cool, the cape makes it even more awesome! So basically I'd like to join your running club.

And I think everyone has days they just don't feel it, so good for you for pushing through that anyway.
