Wednesday Workout Update - I am TIRED!

I am tired, and I really don't know why...yes, I've run a lot of days, but not a lot of miles, really.  I ran about 9.5 miles last week, and this week, starting with Sunday's race, I've already run a little over 7 miles.  Like I said, not really a lot of miles, but I ran three days in a row, so maybe that's it.  My quads are tired, and until I ran yesterday morning, my ankle wasn't an issue, but it kinda started hurting more than it has been, so I guess it's a good thing today is a rest day.  Tomorrow, I lost my mind and agreed to run with both Erica and Jenny - separately.  My calendar says:
  • 5:45 am - run with Erica
  • 7:45 am - run with Jenny
  • 9:00 am - die (or at least take a nap)
What can I say, I'm a social runner!  Given the opportunity to run with someone, I'm going to take it...I never know when my next lonely run will be, so I choose to be with other runners whenever possible.  Anyway, since a post about how tired I am is boring, I thought I'd include some pictures of my mom that I took when she was here last month - we went for a walk and run (well, me) around the scary statue park one day, and after we were done with our speedwork (seriously, you should see my mom walk - for a short person, she is insanely fast), we took a leisurely walk and I made her pose with the statues - and how much fun is it that she was game?
Revolutionary war soldier - I kept thinking the statue seemed short, until I got some perspective... ;)
Texas soldier - this is the statue that startles me just about every time I run around the corner.
That's right, my mom was making friends with Texas!
The World War II airman modeled after the first President Bush.  Mom is trying to figure out what he's looking at.
Korean war soldiers on guard while Mom stands at ease.

There was one more statue, but it was on a granite rock and I couldn't convince my mom to climb up so I could take her picture with it.  Next time...

  1. Love the pics Shelley.

I'm tired too but I think I have a kind of a cold or something. I had to drag myself out of bed this morning and my run sucked. Well that happens, tomorrow will be better.

I totally understand that you took both appointments, we all know you love running with someone. You will have the rest of the day to rest, right? Have fun!

  3. Sounds like the makings for an excellent sit and knit afternoon to me! LOL at Helen's #3.

Your mom is a very good sport to pose with those statues. I like the last one the best. Your mom looks like she is IN CHARGE!

    1. I know, that last shot of my mom cracks me up, too!

It's a great day for sit and knit, and I plan on doing just that. :)

  4. Haha, girl -- our run tomorrow will be so slow like last week, it'll be like a warm-up when it comes time to run with Jenny ;)

I had a little bit of an IT band flare-up last weekend, so wasn't able to get my 3-miles in on Sunday like I wanted. Still want to attempt 3 tomorrow, but again, it will be SLLOOWW --- so yeah, warm-up! :)

    1. It will be fun - I really enjoyed our run last week, and I'll probably talk your ear off again, lol. See you dark and early tomorrow!

  5. Two running buddies in one day? You are so very lucky. I would suck it up and run with both too. You can rest later.

  6. Hooray for taking advantage of running buddies! I would take a nap though if I got up that early to run. :D

  7. Your mom cracks me up!

Remember to rest. While it may not seem like a lot of miles, you are still building up your running base.

  8. Am I the only person that thinks the Revolutionary Soldier and the WWII pilot look like they have dance steps going on. Who needs dancing with the stars, you have dancing with the statues! Yay for rest days and dancing soldiers.

  10. I, like Carla, am shocked as well that your mom didn't climb up. I received a very nice note from her today and have not hit the See's store because the thought of See's makes me want to gag a maggot. I am leaving now because I have to go reply to your mom on one of the cards she gave me. ha! She said you have more than she has. I think I do too.

  11. Yeah, those guys are a little freaky. As for being tired, I have been also this week, I even skipped my run this morning. Sometimes we just need to rest.

  12. If you ever stop calling it "Scary Statue Park" I'm screwed. I will NOT know what you are talking about if you would say, call it by it's real name or something. Haha

Mom looks super. So cool that you girls exercise together now.

Happy Mothers Day to you both!

  13. ROFL. Like mother, like daughter; isn't that the same statue we have seen you and Jeff goofing around with?

The idea of "social running" is so foreign to me; I don't want to be around anyone or try to talk at all when I am exercising. It's one of the few times I can put my headphones on, crank up the music, and zone out from the world.
