FMM - The Return of Fashion Friday...?

It's a little early, but I took a chance on some strawberries this week and they actually had some flavor and color when I sliced them!  I had my old favorite for breakfast, and all was right in my world:
There is plain Greek yogurt under all of that strawberry goodness, I promise!

I like to sprinkle cinnamon on top of my fruit and yogurt combos, and a while back I ordered a bag of cinnamon from Penzey's Spices to refill my little shaker jar.  Well let me tell you, that was a mistake.  Not the fact that I get my cinnamon (and almost all of my spices from Penzey's - I love their products) online - but refilling creates a big cinnamon dust cloud and no matter how careful I try to be, it's just messy.  So when I finally emptied out the last of that bag into my jar, I breathed a sigh of relief...I'm done with refills and when I'm almost out, I'll just order a regular jar.  Sometimes the little bit of money you save isn't worth the hassle.

Well, this didn't work:
Instead of propagating like I'd hoped, they are just withering away.
Two weeks ago...it was worth a try, I guess.

To be fair, most of the succulents that I try to propagate from leaves DO grow:
These leaves broke off when I was trying to transplant the main plant - I just laid them in a pot, dampened the soil occasionally, and look - they are growing!

I still haven't achieved my dreams of creating a really nice succulent garden, but I do love seeing my little clay pots lined up on the windowsill with all kinds of growth happening:
I swear, I cannot take a picture without Paco jumping in, but you get the idea...

Speaking of Paco photobombing my pictures, I had a reader reminisce about my Fashion Friday pictures and ask for a return of that feature.  Honestly, I stopped doing it because I stopped having to get dressed up for work - and the one day that I do dress for work, I wear a dumb uniform, so that's pretty boring.  I mostly spend my days in jeans and a t-shirt, but just for fun, I set the timer on my camera and tried to take a Fashion Friday picture.  Paco was nowhere near me, but as soon as I set the timer, he came rushing over, just like old times:
He is literally skidding in!

So that's my life now - I don't even shop for clothes all that often because I just don't need much beyond my t-shirt staples.  I am wearing a new t-shirt in this picture, so it's not like I'm depriving myself.  Truth is, if I'm not wearing running clothes, what you see above is pretty much what I wear the rest of the time.  But Paco misses the photo ops, apparently.

Tomorrow will be Diane's longest run before her marathon - 20 miles!!!  She is more than ready for it and will do great, I'm sure of that.  Jeff will start off super early with her and then I'll step in for the last 10 miles, and my goal is to complete all 10 of those miles, and keep Diane entertained as she runs miles 11 through 20.  And afterward?  There will be bacon.

Have a great weekend!

  1. The photo of your poor little non-propagating succulents made me laugh right out loud. I needed that this morning.

I loved your Fashion Fridays but man do I get not dressing if you're not working. I just told someone yesterday that there are weekends where I get into yoga pants, a t-shirt, throw my hair in a pony tail and do not wear makeup from Friday when I get home until I step back out the door on Monday to go to work. I may need to work on that before retirement :)

    1. I really need to toss the withering, non-propagating succulents as they just mock me every time I walk through the kitchen.

    2. Why? You sound like me at the weekends :) I never wear make-up at the weekend. I have to dress up for work everyday, at the weekend I wear my jeans and shirt or my yoga pants. If it makes you feel comfortable, why not?

  2. I also buy in bulk from Penzeys but I use a funnel to fill my jars. That way I don't get the cinnamon cloud (altho I bet it smelled heavenly!).

I need to come up with a bacon smoothie...

    1. I can see bacon as a garnish for a savory smoothie, but an entire bacon smoothie?? Hmmm...

  3. OMG, I love Paco!! I am really going to miss Hannah and Jacob's dogs - they worked this morning so the dogs snuggled in with me and I stayed in bed longer because it was so comfy! I usually get to work about 30 minutes early, but decided to take the later train just so I could stay with them :D

Don't forget to order a scone with that bacon!

    1. It will be weird for you to not have the dogs at home, but at least they'll be pretty close for you to visit. Oh and the kadults, too. ;)

  4. I LOL'd at the succulent picture and at Paco skidding into the photo shoot! And Helen's comment made me LOL, because I dress most days like she described her weekend, and then she said she might need to work on that before retirement. The days I stay home, no one sees me, so why not be comfortable! And even on the days I leave and go to the gym...I pretty much dress the same. Very comfy :)

    1. Paco has FOMO bad when it comes to, well, everything! After my eyelid surgery last year, I do make an effort with eye makeup if I leave the house (even if I'm just going to the grocery store) - but the rest of my face? Nah.

  5. Haha, I tried to take a selfie (with a timer) of my outfit the other day for a friend and just at that moment Baylee walked to me and was in the picture!

  8. Visiting from MaryFrans blog. Paco made me smile. My dog is very relaxed most of the time. He's usually on his back, belly up. It's hard to get a right side up photo of him LOL.

    Good luck with the run!

  9. What does your new t-shirt say? It looks cute!

We buy bulk cinnamon, but it comes in a big jar that I just refill a smaller jar with using a spoon so it doesn't make dust. Unless I drop the spoon...

  10. Paco  he's just a cute photo bomber. Now that you mention it, I remember your fashion Friday's.

I dress up every day on work days so at the weekend I wear the same as you: jeans and a shirt. Much more comfortable for me. I am wearing a long skirt, shirt and jacket today but as soon as I get home I'll change into my jeans and shirt before taking Bella out for a walk. Then after dinner and everything is cleaned up, I swith into my sweatpants and jacket.
