FMM - Why?

Whyyyyy is it so cold already?  Our garage is full of plants thanks to a couple nights with hard freezes, and my succulents are temporarily displaced to get them away from the windows:
I learned the hard way last year that being next to the window is too cold for them when it's freezing outside.
Haha look - the plant rack is actually holding plants!
Dis not look cold...
TOO COLD.  EBRYONE CUDDLE WIF MOM.

********************

I made it through my first week of work - by yesterday, when I remembered to have Amanda take a picture of me holding my flowers, I was a hot mess.  Hair flat from the cold rain outside, bags upon bags under my eyes, buttoned up Gryffindor cardigan (which I normally never do) because I'm freezing to death and have not bought any work appropriate cold-weather tops...it's a good thing I only had to work three days because who knows what more would have brought:
But hey, the flowers are gorgeous!

Yesterday a patient was getting her raincoat on to leave and remarked how miserable it was outside, with the rain being "so damp" - and I totally understood what she meant.  There's rain, and then there's gross damp rain.  It's probably akin to snow and wet snow.  The only good thing about this weather is that I didn't have to run in it.  I would have been deep into half marathon training right about now, but nope.  So I guess I'll relish this part of not running.

Have a great weekend!

  1. Yeah, this weather is ridiculous. We're still way below normal here and we've 'warmed up' into the 30s. I fear for what's to come! Stay warm, friend!

    1. Same here - I need to get out all of my knitwear because I think I'll be needing it this winter. Even though it's only autumn. Sheesh.

  2. Isn't it funny how a cold day with sunshine and no wind does not bother me near as much as a cold, rainy, cloudy day? Ah well I guess I should be glad we are finally getting some relief from the ridiculous hot weather we have had this year. We were still having days in the 90's in October this year which is sad and ridiculous thanks to global warming.

Glad your first week was a success I think it will get easier as you get used to it.

    Have a great weekend!

    1. I'll take a crisp cold sunny day over a cold rainy day that's 10 degrees warmer, every time!

    1. Glad I could help with the succulents - somehow it didn't occur to me to move them last year even though it's very very cold on the inside of the window when it's freezing outside.

  4. You do realize as soon as you manage to shop for and secure some warm work clothes it will probably be 85 again? LOL. Weather, it's a bitch isn't it (says the woman who has been in February-like temps all week. Sigh.)

What beautiful flowers! I don't think I've ever been thanked/greeted with flowers when starting a new job. That sounds like a 'keeper' boss to me!

    1. If that's what it'll take to stop this cold weather, I'll buy allllll the sweaters! I hope you get an uptick in your temps soon - it's too cold right now. Period.

And yeah, I knew Amanda was a keeper even before I started my first day with her. :)

  6. When you say "cold" in Texas, how cold is cold?

Did I miss something? You got a new job? I have been reading blogs only once a week now so I tend to miss a lot. I better go catch up! -M

  7. I want to know why it's so cold right now too. What is going on, somewhere, that we got this blast? It really made garage work challenging, and our yard is a freaking disaster from all the snow and mud. Whatevs.

That is awesome you remembered to bring the plants in! I hope they get to go back outside this year?!

I missed the post where you talked about going back to work! I need to catch up! I think you look great :)

  9. I'm late to this party, but wanted to say congrats on the new job!!! That seems like such a perfect fit for you, and a good thing to come out of all of the bad stuff this year. I hope you're liking it so far! :)

  10. Your flowers are beautiful.

Waking up to 11 degrees outside is way too cold for me! So glad I don't have to get out.
