FMM - Babies and Stuff

I don't think it's any secret that I love babies - always have, from way back when I was a kid.  I started babysitting early on and that extended to the babies in our sailing club whose parents needed a sitter while they were out sailing or racing; my friend from those days later told me that the only way he could hang out with me was to go along with the babysitting, and I credit that for he and his wife having five children later on.

Anyway, I got to see and hold two sweet babies last weekend which pretty much made my day.  First up, Jeff and I went over to Brian and Cary's house to meet their new baby, Aiden.  He's three weeks old in the pictures and oh so sweet, just snuggly like newborns are.  I held him for about an hour - he was sleeping most of the time but every once in a while he'd open his eyes and stretch out, and then go back to sleep.
Oh my happy heart.
Look at his little hand!  And his sweet nose - he's so cute.
Later on we both relaxed, just lazing on the couch.

I'm so happy when new moms share their babies with me.  Cary has always been so generous with both of her babies and I appreciate it so much.

The next evening, Diane texted me that her grandson Oliver was up and alert, and if I wanted to, I could come over to meet him, which, of course!  Jeff and I had been lazing on the couches and I was all GET UP GET DRESSED GET IN THE CAR and then we zipped over to her house - she lives close by but with the one-way access roads, it takes a long time (ok really like five minutes) to make the loop of left turns to get there.  I was afraid he'd fall asleep before we arrived but he was laying on the floor, playing with some toys and just looking happy and cute.  I swooped in and picked him up - he's only one pound beyond my weight limitations so it was ok:
He's five months old and such a happy little guy!
We had a little heart-to-heart talk...
Followed by a selfie - better get used to this, Oliver.

As with Cary, Oliver's mom was so sweet in letting me hold her baby - I've met her a couple of times over the years but she really doesn't know me.  I guess Diane vouched for me, LOL.

Our weather turned cold on Wednesday and let me tell you, going from hot hot hot for half a year to north winds and a feels like temperature in the 20's?  It's painful.  We need a little adjustment period!  I went to PT in the morning and then afterward I walked a little bit outside while wearing my Garmin, so I could get the Halloween badge:
I can't earn any medals right now, so the occasional Garmin badge will have to do.
At least I got to wear the beautiful scarf that Debby knitted for me - it was perfect!

Have a great weekend!

  2. Babies are the best. Especially when you can borrow them and not have to wake up every few hours to feed them lol!

Good job getting your badge. It seems odd to see you in a scarf but I'm glad you got some relief from all the heat.

    1. I know, I love babies but I'm also glad I don't have to care for them 24/7 like I did 30+ years ago!

We froze last night - yep, got down to 32 degrees, on November 1st. That seems early for us...

  3. Aww babies those two are too cute! Texas and Florida the land of extreme temperature changes in one day. We are finally getting a cool front nothing as severe as what you have. I think we are finally going to be in the 70's today which will be a nice change from those nasty extended 90's we had in October.
Enjoy wearing your lovely scarf while you can. I suspect it will be next month before we get any real cold weather here which, isn't all bad I am still getting lovely roses to bring in.
    Have a great weekend!

  5. J am the same...love love love babies! I always wanted a huge family with lots of babies. But oh well... (No...don’t even say it...don’t even say Maryfran you are still young enough...I am NOT planning on having a baby when I’m 47 years old!)

Luckily for you that you have lots of babies to cuddle and play with in your friends circle!!!

    1. I'm sorry your big family didn't pan out. It's interesting to see what happens in our lives vs what we think will happen when we are younger. I hope you still find some babies to cuddle - my advice is to get some younger friends, LOL - that's where I'm finding my babies!
