Monday Query

Which product that you purchase regularly gives you security?  As well as some angst when you run low?  For me it's Chapstick.  I have a tube stashed everywhere; desk, nightstand, inside closet, bathroom counter, purse, running bag (guess I could remove that one and use it elsewhere), family room by chair, family room round end table, family room coffee table.  I think that's it.  And it seems like they all run low at the same time...probably because I buy multiples of them in three-packs:
This is the unopened pack - I broke open the first one immediately to replace my empties.

Also, still on the Chapstick/lip balm theme, how often do you accidentally wash a tube?  For me, it's usually every couple of months thanks to my pants-pocket-stashing.  I haven't managed to throw one in the dryer, thankfully and knock on wood, and hopefully I will continue with that streak.

Let me know - I'm enjoying the comment conversations!

  1. It's like you know me or something...I have a panic attack when I can't find my chapstick! LOL

    1. ...and when I take one out of my purse to put into my pocket during a movie and forget to replace it and have to deal with only lipstick?? I get really mad at myself, LOL.

  2. I'm like that too. Only I buy Blistex. They used to have one called Silk that I loved. But no more. So I buy Deep Renewal. I think its for old ladies :) But I don't keep it everywhere, just in my purse. I think I'll buy an extra one next time and keep it in my bathroom drawer! Oh, and also, I never run out of my giant bags of Skinny Pop popcorn :))

    1. I kinda felt like that when I had to switch to Chapstick because I was having a reaction to the beeswax in Burt's Bees - like, Chapstick is for old people who never tried a new thing (like Burt's Bees!). But I'm trying to make it cool. Is it working? haha.

Oh snacks - lately for me it's been keeping a couple bottles of Starbucks iced coffee in my fridge. Skinny Pop, now I want some popcorn!

  3. I always go to the Mizzou Homecoming parade where they always throw out candy - whatever. A couple years ago one group was throwing out chapstick!!! And it was good chapstick with 15 SPF. It’s the little things, ha.

    1. Yes! I feel like I've scored when I get either a chapstick, a digital thermometer, or a gel ice pack in a goodie bag for a race. :)

  4. Totally Blistex for me - purse, junk drawer, bedside table, car, both running belts, biking back-pack, the list goes on. It is a little embarrassing, but I do get a tad bit panicky when one is missing. Heaven forbid having to reach into my purse for one while driving because my car one is in a jacket pocket! I don't wash them very often, because they don't usually ride in my clothing, although sometimes that sneaky jacket pocket one slips through the sorting process. No dryer mishaps yet, thankfully. Oh, and I'm almost as bad about floss, though not quite.

    1. You are my kind, Emmaclaire. I would have a couple stashed in my car but they'd just melt. Floss - you just reminded me, I need to put more floss picks in my purse. :)

  5. Me too, except Carmex for me. And hand lotion, hand lotion everywhere you mentioned you have Chapstick stashed

    1. Ahhh Carmex - that stuff saved my kid's lips during cold winter months! Hand lotion? I should stash that right with my Chapstick, except that I still wouldn't use it very often. Which is also why my hands look so rough...but I don't like that greasy feeling afterward, so I pay the price.

  6. I'm with you on the lip balm. I also need access to Kleenex/tissues all the time. The back of my hand just doesn't cut it when I sneeze :)

    1. So funny, my Mom texted me Kleenex. Which reminds me, I've been visiting and she's thrown a jacket or windbreaker my way when it's cold, and there's always a folded Kleenex in every pocket, LOL.

  7. I’m the same way with Softlips :) I have them stashed all over and have to make sure I have a few when I travel. I can’t run without them. I sometimes wash my running one - about every few months too.

When you see someone putting chapstick on, do you get the urge to too? I do!

    1. I remember Softlips! That stuff was good...now I want to try it again. And OMG yes, washing lip balm with running gear is a given, LOL.

Yep. If you put on Chapstick, I have to as well.

  8. Chapstick everywhere for me too! And a good stash of my favorite pens. I order them online so I want to make sure I never get down to the last one.

    1. Ooh pens!!! I don't have mine stashed anywhere but my desk, but I will admit to having an unopened pack in my desk drawer, ready and waiting. I love the Flair felt-tips. I buy them in the rainbow pack because I cannot resist a rainbow, but I rely on the blues/pinks/purples mostly. Oranges and greens next. Can't figure out what to use yellow for, but it brightens my pen cup, so I guess it has a purpose, haha.

  9. For me, it's hand sanitizer, the little B&B ones in seasonal scents. There's one in every vehicle, drawer, backback, purse, bike bag....

It's a leftover habit from my chemo and recovery years when I was immunosuppressed and terrified of getting sick! Now-days, I just have really clean hands and no inkstains or stickiness. (Alcohol based gels will remove [most] inks and adhesives from almost anything. And they're also good for spot cleaning in a pinch.)

    1. I get why you needed the hand sanitizer originally and hey, having clean and fresh-smelling hands is nice, right? I didn't know that it can help adhesives...personally I'd prefer the smell of a B&BW one to remove a sticky price label over Goo Gone. I'm going to have to try this!

  10. I have a ton of chapsticks ( not that exact brand), and the funny thing is I haven't purchased any in years ( if ever). I get so many from race swag bags and beauty boxes and gifts. Right now the few in my rotation are A Keylime pie Chapstick from Savannah bee company ( gift from my sister), Three balls of EOS that are holiday flavors (from my husband last Christmas), and my favorite is a vanilla lip balm from Cigna that I got in a race swag bag,,, go figure! I do use one form of chapstick every day but I never put it in my pocket or take it with me.
