FMM - Look At My Feet!

For today's FO Friday, I present to you my St. Patrick's Day socks:
Striped and speckled toe yarn is Dye For Ewe, in Shamrocked and Eire colorways; heel yarn is Three Fates in CSA Carrot colorway.  I planned on using the same color toe yarn for the heel, but as you can see the heel fell smack dab in the middle of the speckled stripe and I knew it would get lost.  Luckily I had the orange in my stash and it worked out as a great match.

I rushed to get these finished so I could wear them all month long for March.  I've wanted to knit a pair of St. Patrick's Day themed socks for a few years but never saw a color I liked until I found this dyer.  She's out of Manitoba, so I'm wearing international socks.
Stacks of stripes - this makes me so happy!

Before we ran on Tuesday morning, Diane paid me for a shirt I'd ordered for her (we're doing a St. Patrick's race and found some fun shirts to wear) - she pulled out a bunch of one dollar bills from her wallet and I jokingly said "Where have you been, the strip...center?"  She looked at me and we both blanked on the word I was looking for.  It took way too long for us to come up with strip joint, and by that time Jeff joined us and shook his head, muttering "it's strip club" - obviously we are not strip club regulars, despite Diane's wallet of ones!

That same morning, we'd finished our run and were doing our standard walking around the cul de sac to cool down.  Jeff always leaves us at that point so we can get our gossip on, so it was just the two of us, and it was still dark.  We were in the street when suddenly we heard a woman yelling HEY HEY HEY and a dog barking and next thing I knew Diane had grabbed my shoulders and moved behind me as a small dog came racing toward us!  So apparently I'm the sacrifice in this friendship, LOL.  The woman was trying to get her dog to stop, and he did before he got to the street, but dog lover that I am, I was fully prepared to meet him with my foot if he got to us.  Sheesh.  Don't let your dog out without a leash if he's aggressive!  This was at a newer neighbor's house and I don't know them very well, but I've seen that dog in our front yard on our security camera several times in the last week, so either he manages to escape or else they let him roam...either way, not a great scenario.

OK, now for some cuteness.  After a while, Logan gets tired of sitting while we're at Blue Baker, so he walks around the place with one parent following - climbing steps and chairs are particularly fun for him right now.  Eventually they wanted to sit down with us, so Cary played the Minions movie on her phone for him and all the guys started watching it with him:
HEY JEFF DID YOU SEE THAT??

It was very entertaining watching him be so entertained - kids are so darn cute!

Have a great weekend!

  1. This past week I was running in the park. A woman was walking her dog (on a leash) and as I approached the dog went crazy, snarling and lunging at me. It was a Sheltie! Geez. Glad it was leashed. Cocoa isn't very friendly to strangers either, so we never have her off leash.

    Those socks! So cute!!!

    1. Same for Paco. That dog is going to get into trouble - he's already been at our house again over the weekend. Not sure if he's an escape artist or his owners let him roam.

  2. Such cute socks! Down here it will soon be way to hot to wear socks until November. Weirdly enough we are supposed to be back down to 42 degrees for a couple of mornings next week which, I don't like.

That Logan is sure growing up fast!

    Have a great weekend!

    1. Thanks, Susan! Our sock season is pretty short so I try to remember to wear all of my socks as often as I can.

  3. Those socks are so cute!! I love they look right for St. Paddy's Day but really you could wear them all year round - so versatile!!

And honestly, I'm much more afraid of those little yappy bitey dogs than a big lumbering dog! Those little ankle biters are a-holes!!

  4. Love the socks. I bet your sock drawer is a lovely rainbow of colors!

Logan is too cute. I'd never get anything done... I'd be too distracted watching him lol.

I was attacked by a chow when I was a kid. Dogs off the leash always scare me.

    1. Thanks - I've been wearing the socks all weekend and can't stop looking at them. You know it's a good project when you're that pleased with the result. :)

  6. Logan is adorable - great picture taking. I love the one of Logan exclaiming to Jeff. I have to comment on your strip center, joint, association, convention, club, hahahaha. I have had that conversation with having a bunch of ones and saying it was from the strip club. Of course smart alecky Kevin says, "If you have a bunch of ones you aren't a great stripper." Okay, now I'm wondering what kind of weird traffic you're going to have on the blog because of this thread.
