FMM - Medal Hanger Hanging Man Man I Love Fiesta

So much randomness today...but first, I wanted to show some close up shots of my medal hangers as I've had a couple people interested in them lately:
My original hanger - it's by Allied Medal Hangers, and I love it so much.  It was given to me by Allied over 8 years ago and I've added a second hanging bar below it because my medal collection has grown quite a bit.
This was how it looked in the early days...
Then I ordered this one about a year and a half ago because my original hanger was getting really crowded, and I wanted my half marathon medals to stand out.  Both of my medal hangers were custom made, as is the medal hanger I bought for Jeff when he started running, but they also have a lot of ready-made hangers that are super cute.  I highly recommend them.

Oh, no big deal - I just walked outside to see a man dangling from a rope in my neighbor's tree:
A tree-trimmer was making his way around our cul-de-sac, offering up his services and several of our neighbors took him up on this.  It was interesting to watch but one neighbor had a huge tree cut down and the sound of that chainsaw going for hours drove both Paco and I a little crazy.

Karen brought me this Fiestaware vase as a thank you for having her spent the night before we drove to San Antonio last week.  Totally not necessary but OMG I love it so much:
My first Fiestaware vase!

I mentioned that the color must be lemongrass, but she said it was chartreuse; the color was printed on the box (she'd carried the vase with the flowers upright in the box on her drive here).  I had looked at the box but wondered how I missed seeing the color printed on it.  Took a second look later on and then I understood:
CHART.  REUSE.  Yes, that is what I saw.  To be fair, I also read those I ❤️ NY shirts as I heart New York, not I love New York, so I'm a bit on the literal side of things...

I'm playing around with my Fiestaware canister arrangement and as they are scattered all over the kitchen, I took pictures of them so I could look online to see if another color might make a good addition.  This shot cracked me up - see all the medicine bottles?  All for the dog:
Also, the canister behind the pill bottles holds his pill pockets.  Yep...dog city over here.

We have a normal weekend up ahead - just our regular Saturday run with the Renegades, breakfast at Blue Baker, and then?  Nothing, and it sounds pretty nice!  Maybe I'll get to watch some more of my Avenger movies - I need to catch up on everything before the new movie comes out in April.  More Thor...nothing wrong with that, right?

Have a great weekend!

  1. You remind me that I need a new medal hanger! At the end of 2018, I squeezed my last medal onto the rack. I keep thinking--how many more medals will I receive? But I have more races on the plan for this year, so maybe a smaller rack...

    1. I like that you can get them in different lengths (which is why I got a smaller one for my half marathon medals) - but heck yeah, if you're still racing, get another one!

    1. Aww man! You need to sign up for a race solely for the medal then. ;)

  3. I would totally read that as Chart Reuse. Now thanks to your blog, if I’m ever in “25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee”, I’ll know how to spel chartreuse.

    1. LOL!!! Honestly I don't think I could have spelled it either, but yep, you're right, now we both know. It's like when my son had the word delicatessen for his second grade vocabulary, and he came home saying DELI CAT ESSEN and guess what? We both can spell it!

  4. I totally would have read that the same as you as well! So funny!! Love your medal hangers! Seriously, it must be tree-trimming season, because I had to do a double take at work yesterday of a man high up in a tree!

    1. I guess maybe pre-spring is the time to trim trees in the south? Who knew??

  5. I never had the need for a medal hanger because I only have medals for marathons and 1 half. All the other races I did gave nothing.

I feel you on the noise. We have had work being done on the natural gas lines on every street in my neighborhood. Fortunately it usually starts after I leave for work and wraps up around the time I get home. But today I’m home and I’ve already had the thought that I need to get out of here!!

    1. For the longest time none of my races had medals - my first half was my first medal. Seems to be a little more common to get them with shorter distances now, although the increased race fees are the trade off.

  6. I am on the prowl for a display for my running bibs and medals! Thank you for the ideas. I read things very literally too. I hate when people get cutesy with t-shirts or signs, like splitting words into two lines, because I always read them as separate words that make no sense.

    1. Glad I'm not the only one with odd (or maybe NORMAL) reading habits.

  7. Your medal hangers are so pretty! Also, I am cracking up at the doggie pills. I have a whole little cupboard in the kitchen just devoted to doggie pills. Granted, they aren't all being used all the time, but they're there when needed!

    1. It's funny, I have our people medication in the bathroom, but Paco's pills are front-and-center. Oh that dog...

  8. That was such a perfect gift for you! I am totally LOLing that you read it CHART.REUSE. because a few years ago I had this soap from B&BW that broke up a word that way on the bottle and Steven was SO confused. We still tease him about it! LOL.

I love your medal holders. I love seeing them so full and colorful!
