WWU - Where I Talk About a Pretty Sunrise But Provide Zero Pictorial Evidence

Running update:  I have been running regularly for over a week now, woohoo!  Between our trips and the very cold mornings, I got a little off but I'm back to normal.  My calf, of the torn muscle, feels fine when I run and only occasionally will pull a bit afterward.  Nothing to worry about, it's just not entirely healed yet.

On Saturday Jeff (who was recovering from running 16 miles on Thursday evening, his longest distance to date), Diane, and I set out for a nice little run.  We were treated to the most beautiful pink sunrise I've seen in a long time, plus thanks to the time change, it was nearly dawn when we started running at 6:00 am so we had daylight for most of it.  We ended up doing 4 miles which still feels a little weird to be running such a short distance on a Saturday, but even without me doing half marathon training, it's probably for the best with my calf - I don't want to cause any more harm to it.

After the run, CC and Loretta came in with Mason, who was wearing gloves that were too big for his little hands - I'm sure it's hard to find them in his size.  Anyway, he proceeded to count to nine on one hand which made sense, really - he got the floppy glove fingers counted along with his most of his own.  It was cute and fun to see him talking so much.

For yesterday's run, Diane was off work so we slept in and ran 45 minutes later than usual.  We started off with daylight so we took the opportunity to run the cowdog road that is too deserted and scary to run in the dark.  There are three houses being built - student rental housing - and as we ran around them we tried to figure out the layout (they are all identical).  We ended up pausing our Garmins to do a little window-peeking recon, because why not?  There was a realtor flyer by one house so we got the details for the parts we couldn't see, but it turns out they are five bedroom, five bathroom houses with a small kitchen, tiny living room (more of an entry, really) and a game room.  Just in case you were wondering...or will be in need of student housing in my town soon, haha.  Anyway, it was fun to have a random little running adventure!

Tomorrow the Renegades who are in town for the holiday will be doing our local Turkey Trot 5K, and then we feast.  It's always a fun way to start off Thanksgiving, plus they have little pieces of pumpkin pie at the finish so we get to start and finish the day with pie.

BCS Fitness update:  I'm still going, it's still a challenge, and I'm still really enjoying it.  We move quickly through our workouts and I'm always beat afterward.  Actually I mentioned to Coach Jared that I never finished a workout without feeling like it was really hard and he replied that was because they continually increase the intensity or weights or reps as they see us improving, which made me feel better about always being beat at the end.  It's supposed to be like that!  Good to know.

Have a happy Thanksgiving if you're an American reader - hope you enjoy everything the day has to offer.  I'm taking Friday off from blogging but I'll be back on Monday, so have a great weekend, too!

  1. Glad you’re getting back into the swing of running. It’s only right to get to run in cooler weather considering you suffered through hot humid conditions all summer! Also glad to hear that calf has improved.

I have a tradition of trotting on my own on Thanksgiving morning but not sure what I’ll do this year with the ZERO-degree windchill that is forecast. Pretty sure my days of running in those conditions are over lol.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and Jeff and family!

    P.S. iPad let me comment!!
