Birthday socks!
Naturally, I'm still knitting other socks (I have two more pairs to finish for myself), but I'm also in the happy process of choosing some baby items to knit and finding the yarn for those projects. Which...I won't be able to show you until after they are gifted. Good thing this isn't a knitting blog - I'd be really lacking in content right now!

Speaking of basic needs, the last time I ordered coffee was in June, when we'd had an expensive month, what with both of our birthdays and other big expenses (like a plane ticket to California). So you can imagine my dilemma when news of the Knit Picks Felici self-striping sock yarn appeared in my inbox - they only sell this yarn once a year, and I love it. Last year I bought quite a bit and while I still haven't knitted it all up, just knowing that I can only get it for a short time gives me angst. However, I needed (NEEDED) that coffee. I still had plenty of sock yarn. I could only order one thing...and the coffee won out. No regrets.
Now, I just checked, and they actually still have some of the Felici yarn available (last year it sold out really quickly), but I'm going to hold off...I'll be visiting some yarn stores in a couple of weeks, and it will be fun to see the yarn in person before buying it, for a change. Restraint...I have a little bit.
Usually after I do my weekday run, I'm full of energy and ready to get
things done, very early in the morning. That's when I love online
shopping the most: CLICK - dog food ordered, CLICK - cat food ordered,
CLICK - coffee pods ordered. The basic needs of everyone in our
household are taken care of, and I feel like I've accomplished so much, even
before sunrise!

Speaking of coffee, have you tried the Iced Coconut Milk Caramel Mocha Macchiato from Starbucks? I went in recently, intending to get my usual nonfat iced latte, but I had a freebie coming, so when I saw the ICMCMM (my gosh, can it have a longer name?), I ordered it...and let's just say it was the BEST DRINK EVER! That first sip was amazing. I figure I can do this once in a while - this drink has enough calories that I won't get it very often, but when I do, it will be a very good day, indeed.

We are having a fun run tomorrow - I mapped out our route so that we finish at Stripes, where we will get Icees! It will be well into the 80s by the time we finish running, so that Icee is going to feel pretty darn good - a cool down from the inside out!
Have a great weekend!
I would love being able to order my dog food online! Baylee gets a prescription food from the vet.
ReplyDeleteYou should check out my friend Rebecca Jo's blog it's called Knit by God's hands. She's a knitter and runner and I think you two would really hit it off.
I love Starbucks but usually only get the Frappes. What is the difference in the Frappes and Iced Lattes?
A latte is over ice, while a frappe (frappucino, in Starbucks-speak) is blended with ice.
DeleteThanks for the blog recommendation - I'll definitely check her out!
So much good stuff to comment on! Love the way you wrapped your mom's socks! And congrats on finishing TWO pairs of socks!
ReplyDeleteWhere do you order your dog food online? A friend just told me about Chewy.com, said the food was really reasonable and included shipping. It sounded good to have someone else do at least half of the heavy lifting!
That drink sounds like it might be a good after-gym treat. Now, if I can only remember the name :)
Pet food from Amazon - free shipping, no minimum order, and their prices are lower than anything here in town for Wellness brands.
DeleteI need to try that drink as you are literally the third person in two days who has mentioned it! I'm not huge on iced coffee but do love those flavored drinks. I'm sure because of the extra calories they contain lol. So worth it occasionally.
ReplyDeleteI'm feeling for you with your hot runs. I ran my long run today in 75 with 90 humidity and believe me, I was searching for the shady side of the street!
My knitting break has lasted to long. I need to start.
ReplyDeleteHave fun on your run tomorrow. I know you will. Can't wait to see what you eat, I mean run.
We order pet food online as well. Pixie needs special food now after her bladder surgery and that's the best price on Amazon.
ReplyDeleteSuch pretty packaging for those socks!
Look forward to the final results of the socks.
ReplyDeleteI order almost everything online, I don't and have never liked shopping and now that you can order everything online, it's heaven to me :)
I order my groceries, flee medication for Bella, clothes, shoes, books. I could go on forever :)
Hope you have a great fun run today.
Every time I see your knitting projects, I think I should learn to knit. But then I remember that I have no patience for sitting still... I really admire your skills. I'll just have to pay people to make things for me.
ReplyDeleteIt's so hard to be working on a project and not be able to share it! I can't wait to read the deets of the socks!!!
ReplyDeleteI love that productive feeling after an early morning run!
