Friday Mishmash

Jeff's birthday was earlier this week, and I surprised him with something he's wanted forever - a hammock.  He was totally shocked when he opened the gift...lately, I've been giving him practical things like new running gear, so this was a nice change.  He loves it:
Pretty sure that whenever I can't find Jeff, this is where he'll be...
Paco jumped in and while this isn't the greatest shot of Jeff, I though Paco's smile was too good not to share.
Even Kip joined in the fun and nestled right in with Jeff.

I liked that this hammock is easily removed from the frame, so we can bring it inside when it's not being used; hopefully this will protect it from the elements and make it last longer.  It's a Vivere double hammock - it's sold at Lowe's, but I bought it from Amazon since the price was the same, shipping was free, and I didn't have to wrestle with the box as much.

Speaking of the box:
Kip claimed it.  Poor Henry walked in the room and Kippers hissed at him - no box for Henry!

To celebrate his birthday, Jeff got his free drink from Starbucks:
Caramel waffle cone Frappuccino.

While I tried their new Granita:
Strawberry lemon limeade - not too sweet and very refreshing!

We sat outside in the shade, in the 90+ degree afternoon, and I wasn't dying because of my icy drink.  I'll have to get one of these again soon...it was really good, which means that they'll discontinue it - I swear, if I like something, it disappears off of their menu (RIP Coconut Mocha Frappuccino).

The other morning, I walked into my closet and heard Henry meow at me, but didn't see him.  A little investigating, and I found him:
Mr. Big Eyes, tucked away in Jeff's closet.

I don't have any completed knitting projects that I can show you right now, so instead I'll show you what I get to contend with while I knit:
Kip:  Let me just rub my face on your hands while you knit...you neeeeed to pet me right this second!

Tomorrow Jeff is going to run his age (5.9 miles) and then our group is going to try out a new breakfast restaurant in town...it's been getting great reviews already, so hopefully it will live up to the hype.

Have a great weekend!

  2. Love the hammock pics! Gotta say, Jeff looked a little more relaxed before the animals invaded :)

I loved the Coconut Mocha Frappuchino too!! What is wrong with those people?

The animals insisting on being petted RIGHT THEN. I know it well.

    1. I hope he has a great, slow run tomorrow. Mean wife that I am, I've already threatened him that if he pushes it too much with running in the heat, I'll just do a drive by at the ER - opening the door and pushing him out!

OK I really wouldn't do that, but he needs to be more careful!

  4. What a nice gift! I used to work at Starbucks and while it's been several years I remember we would make drinks but simply give a different name, which I personally thought was kind of stupid (like a caramel macchiato is really a vanilla latte upside down) and makes me wonder if you could merely order a mocha frappaccino and add on coconut syrup (if they still have it). But maybe they stopped carrying the syrup and I'm being dumb...
Anyway! I'd ask a barista if there is anything similar they can make...surely there is :)

    1. I'll have to ask again if they have the coconut syrup - they didn't a couple of years ago. Interesting how they change up the same drinks with different names...I love hearing about the behind the scenes with Starbucks!

  7. Happy birthday to Jeff! My sister has that same hammock and it is entertaining trying to balance in it :D

John loved that frapp, too, and used to call the Cocomochanut.

  11. I totally want a hammock for our yard! I wonder if I should get one like this, on a stand, or the kind you tie up. I love how the animals love it too!

I need to try that drink at SB before it's gone!!!

    1. The stand works out really well because he can move it into the shade during the day, plus it's super easy to take the hammock off and bring it inside, so it doesn't get all jacked up from rain/sprinklers/dew/sun/bird poop.

  12. I've been meaning to tell you thank you for posting about your hammock. I put it on my Amazon wish list and it ended up being one of the Amazon Prime Day specials and I snagged it. O M G - literally the best purchase I've made in a long time!! I love it!

    1. That's great to hear! A friend of ours also bought it on the Prime Day special...I considered getting another one (for me) because it was such a good deal but in the end I let Jeff have his as the only one. That's not to say I don't use his occasionally, lol!
