Friday Mishmash

Just about every morning, Cat Fight Club happens in our house - no, not between the cats, or even between the cats and the dog, but between one cat, Henry, and Jeff.  You see, when Jeff sits down to put on his shoes, Henry goes running over for pats and whatnot.  Then once Jeff is finished with his shoes and stands up, Henry jumps on the chair and starts boxing with Jeff.  He loves it and gets in some good jabs, and it makes for a funny start to the day.  I said all that to explain why I videoed them the other morning, and how I managed to get a screen grab of Henry's hidden heart:
I swear, we had Henners for years before I noticed the heart on the back of his leg.

Here's the video - it's not particularly compelling, but it's what I see just about every single morning:
Bonus points if anyone can identify the noise in the background...

We recently put flea collars on the animals (they don't tolerate other forms of flea control, unfortunately), and I noticed that while Henry looks even more formal in his (I'm tempted to make a little bow tie and add it onto the collar), Kip looks like a member of the cloth:
Father Kip disapproves...of what, I'm not sure, but he strikes me as the priest who doesn't tolerate any shenanagins.

Since I'm on a roll with pet pictures, here's a few more:

Kip was sleeping on my legs first, but Paco didn't let that stop him from making himself comfortable.  They both slept soundly while I managed to knit around them.
This is why I have a hard time getting my bed made some mornings - how can I disturb such a sleepy kitty?

They don't get along and are rarely in the same room together, but I guess a nice warm sunspot made them declare a temporary truce.

The tables were turned at Christmas when my kadults indulged me in some pretty terrific gifts - they gave me a pair of CUTE non-running shoes:
Nike Free Flyknit shoes - I've wanted a pair of fun, non-running shoes, but all my money goes toward running shoes, so this was a special treat!
A leaf blower!  Our trees lose their leaves year-round, and our back patio and front door area are always a mess.  I'd take care of it myself, but Jeff's leaf blower is almost as tall as me and way too heavy for me to use.  I asked for a lady leaf blower and my kadults got me a bunch of $10 gift cards to Home Depot (so I could unwrap a lot of things, LOL).  I picked out a nice Toro brand blower on Saturday and went to town with it!
This was one of the more satisfying things I've done in recent memory - LOOK AT THAT PATIO!!!  Paco approves.

Alright, we're off to Houston - have a great weekend!

  4. Aww! I love seeing your Cat Fight Club! They're so cute with their little routines of getting the crazy out. Ha! But isn't the first rule of Fight Club to not talk about Fight Club?!

I love all the animal pics!!! :) And the new schweet kicks! Have a great time in Houston!

  6. I wish our cat would engage us like that. The closest we get is the penetrating stare when she wants to be let outside. :/

Lady leaf blower!! That made me giggle. :)

  7. LOVE your new shoes! I tried those on somewhere, and they are so comfortable!

Love what a good job your blower does.

And Jeff and Henry--so funny. Is Henry de-clawed? I'd think Jeff would get some pretty good scratches if he isn't! I thought the noise was a coffee maker, but the sound stops and starts with the "fight." I give up--what is it?

Good luck this weekend, and most of all, have fun!!!!!!

    1. Yes, Henry is declawed. He sure can pack a punch, though!

I thought you might recognize the noise - it's Paco chewing on a Nylabone!

  8. So excited for your weekend!!! And can't wait for the recap tomorrow - I'll have to stalk your Facebook page over the weekend.

I love our leaf blower, but with the kadults living with me, they took care of the outside maintenance of the house last summer which was nice. I loved coming home to a fresh cut lawn!

    Kick some ass! :D

  10. Love the fur babies stuff. Clueless about the noise, but got an idea from an earlier comment ... is Paco eating/pushing his bowl around?

Think I see a cord on the leaf blower - is it electric? I've been considering one but would need to check out the weight and see how it goes with the shoulders. Sure did make the patio look nice!

    1. It is electric, weighs about 4 pounds, and I had a really easy time using it.

Noise is Paco chewing his Nylabone. :)

  12. Our fat cat Jude always comes running when someone is trying to put on shoes. He weaves in and out of your legs the whole time!

  13. What a fun post! And I don't know that I've ever said this...but the picture after your lady leaf blower was used shows how awesome your back yard looks!!!

  14. Love the boxing! Our old cat, Chloe, used to play Shoe Time with John. Every day when he put on his shoes, she would come over and roll in front of his feet and he would dangle the shoe laces for her to play with. So cute.

Have a great time in Houston!
