I am not Lori nor Debby when it comes to taking nice pictures of my blooming plants, but I saw the prettiest tiny pink flowers on one of our pot plants in the backyard and actually got a couple decent shots with my phone:
This is some sort of succulent that we got at the farmer's market in June. All three of the plants we bought there have done really well - we'll have to do more of our plant buying from the locals, rather than from Lowe's/Home Depot next spring.

So apparently I've found my forte at the gift shop - rearranging some of the displays. One week, Rosalie and I decided we were tired of looking at how the Fossil purses were set out, so up on the ladder I went (with only one slight mishap of a purse coming down on top of me, accompanied by a cuss word - luckily no one was in the shop at the time). The following week when I went to work, two of the purses we'd moved had sold! Rosalie wasn't there that week, but I texted her the news, as it's always exciting when things that we've specifically arranged sell. We had some new purses come in, so I did some more work with the displays:
I was especially pleased with how all the brown bags and wallets came together on the upper left. Btw, that popcorn is pretty good...
Just doing something as simple as putting all the blue bags in one area makes it look more appealing - this was the spot where two of the three bags we put up the previous week sold, so I'll be interested to see how this new batch does.
Not only do I get to enjoy the interaction with the customers at the gift shop, but I get to indulge in my love of rearranging things as well. Oh, and last week? One customer bought TWO Fossil purses, along with a bunch of baby items - she was an impending new grandma, and I think was nervous-shopping while labor was happening upstairs. It was fun to share in her excitement.

We have nine miles on tap for tomorrow. I wish I could say I'll be dressing up for the run, but I probably won't...or WILL I???
Happy Halloween, and have a great weekend!
Happy Halloween, and have a great weekend!
Oh, I didn't even think about dressing up for my training run tomorrow. Maybe I will!
ReplyDeleteI love that you are having so much fun at the hospital gift shop. It surprises me that people end up buying things like purses there!
I think the gift shop is becoming known among shoppers as a good place to check for some unique things (in this town, anyway). I was totally expecting to just sell sundries, snacks, and flowers when I started.
DeleteI want lots of pictures if you do decide to dress up for your run. Good luck on your run tomorrow hopefully it will go great! Happy Halloween to you and yours!
ReplyDeleteWell I know I won't be dressing up tomorrow :) Halloween is not big here. But you can go all the way, love to see photo's of that.
ReplyDeleteI love the photo of Paco, he's such a sweet dog.
How things are displayed ABSOLUTELY make a difference in whether or not I even look at something. You are good at that and they should be glad you give them that skill for free instead of making off of it.
ReplyDeleteHope your run tomorrow is delightful in every way. Has the rain stopped there yet?
The rain stopped, but as of early this morning, it's back, with thunder and lightening. Not sure if we'll be able to get out there tomorrow, but we have a contingent plan for Sunday morning.
DeleteI'm surprised at the items in the hospital gift shop as well, and how rewarding to have some items sell after you've re-arranged.
ReplyDeleteIt's funny, with no incentive (pay/bonus/commission) involved, we still have a great time arranging items and seeing them sell. :)
DeleteLOVE the shot of Paco listening to Sam. I can see how the purses sold after you rearranged them. So visible against that light wall, and so much more appealing than when they are all jumbled up like they so often are.
ReplyDeleteI love your pink flower, and you are successful at succulents, where I just kill them.
Aw Paco - too cute! I hope you dress up tomorrow! I am going to a Halloween party - I found an idea online - I will post the picture next week! :D
ReplyDeleteThat succulent is a sedum and so pretty!
ReplyDeleteYou are so talented with the displays. I could use your help :)
Oh I need that black and white bag in the first picture :)
