I've really been enjoying running with my friends lately. We just meet up and go, and without having to stay on top of our mileage for training, we get to simply run. No stress, no pushing it - and I'm loving it. I even got to run with Andi and Brian on Sunday morning, which normally doesn't happen because they are a lot faster than me. But they slowed down, I sped up, and boom - we ran 3.66 miles together (that's another way you know I'm not training, because usually I'd make sure to get a more rounded number (like 3.75) so I could compare my pace and time). Running for fun. I could get used to this!

I have a nifty product to share with you - it's called the Running Buddy Buddy Pouch, and I am loving it for a couple of reasons: one, it is big enough to hold my iPhone 6 (my old iPhone 4 could fit into the little zippered pocket in the back of my running capris, but the new phone wouldn't); and two, it's a pouch but it doesn't have a waist strap! I loathe having any kind of fuel belt or the like that goes around my waist when I'm running, yet I like having the option to carry my phone with me. I saw this product on Facebook and I decided to order one - and I'm glad I did!
Nice butt shot...this is where I like to wear the Buddy Pouch.
The pouch has a flap that goes over your waistband - you can put it in the front of your waistband or at the small of your back (which is where I prefer to wear it). It's held in place with two super-strong magnets, and there's enough room for the iPhone, plus a key, a couple of GU's, and some money...nothing too bulky, but it can hold enough for a longish run - plus it seems to be water/sweat-proof (I'll probably put my phone in a plastic bag during longer runs, just to be safe). It doesn't bounce, and I don't notice it at all once I start running. The only thing it does is make my shirt ride up a little, like in the picture, but I'm not showing any skin, so that's OK with me. I ordered mine from Amazon - they have a lot of different sizes available. I paid around $22 for this, and I am really happy to have an alternative to a belt system, so I wanted to share my find with you.
Now that's something I like to read: having fun just running! Happy to read you have so much fun at your runs lately.
ReplyDeleteNever seen that buddy pouch before, it looks handy. I have a phone holder I can strap around my upper arm which works fine for me. On long runs I use a fuel belt but I don't mind wearing it. I hate holding things in my hand during a run.
I used to have an armband for my old iPod Touch, but I ended up getting chafed while wearing it so that went bye-bye.
DeleteOk, is it bad that I got a little giggle out of why you quit the "beef team"? I wouldn't want to wear a beef shirt either!
ReplyDeleteThat little pouch reminds me of the "Roo" my sister and I both have. I haven't used mine much since I got it but plan to because race belts usually do ride up on me.
I've not heard of the Roo, but just the name sounds like a pouch, like what I bought.
DeleteGlad I'm not alone in that Beef shirt dislike! :)
I like the idea of that pouch. I might have to look at one for short bike rides when I don't want to have my hydro-pack on.
ReplyDeleteI bet you'd like a pouch like this for biking!
DeleteThat's a nice pouch. I like my cycling jerseys because that have a pocket in the small of the back so I can reach around while riding and take stuff in and out of it. like my phone. Other stuff I keep in the bike bag, but sometimes I want to grab the phone for a picture and don't want to have to stop and hunt for it.
ReplyDeleteThe bike jerseys with those back pouches are pretty sweet! I guess they don't do that with running shirts because of the bounce factor.
DeleteWhat a clever idea, using magnets to keep a pouch in place! Maybe I'll make a quilted one :) Except I'm not good at sewing anything…
ReplyDeleteI'm kinda glad you quit the beef team too. I did not like that shirt! So fun to hear you having fun running.
I'm laughing at your "I'm not good at sewing anything" comments - you are too funny! Just think of it as quilt pieces. ;)
DeleteYeah, that Beef shirt was ugly in so many ways. The previous year's shirt was a nice red, with a more subtle logo. This one, tomato red, with BEEF emblazoned across the entire front of the shirt? Yuck.
You and your beef shirt - too funny!! I guess having BEEF emblazoned across your chest isn't the best way to remain incognito. You know, I totally get not wanting to be noticed. I always have a tough time with that just transitioning from winter indoor running to summer outdoor running. Just a bit odd knowing people are watching.
ReplyDeleteThat's a very cool pouch!
Glad you are so enjoying the runs lately! (OMG...that sounds just wrong) LOL
ReplyDeleteLOVE THE BUTT SHOT :-) and really love that pouch for my walking as well.
ReplyDeleteThat is so cool. I don't run, but I walk and that holder is just what I need to hold the keys and phone. Thanks for the recommendation!
