After a good month of running in March (I ran 40 miles, compared to 24.5 for February), April has started out with Jeff and I missing two runs already. We were visiting our youngest over the weekend, and while we planned on running on Saturday, the truth is, we were beat on our feet - we worked all day on the new apartment and then went to Ikea Friday night, which was the kiss of death for running the next morning. It happens - missing a run is OK. But then we also missed Monday morning's run, because we got back late Sunday and again, were tired. Funny thing is that I'm participating in Million Mile Month via the Texas Beef Team, and my miles so far? Four. HAHAHAHAHA. I'm sure the Beef Team is happy to have me as an active member (much sarcasm there, in case you couldn't tell).

We got back on track with a run yesterday - just two miles, but two miles running straight through, no intervals. I would like to keep that up - straight running - for at least one run per week. Tomorrow, I'll run with Cary, which is always fun. And then our 10K race on Sunday! It's all good, even with the humidity. I'm just glad I can run.
Sometimes you have other things to do than run. I bet spending time with your youngest and helping with the apartment was fun too. Always nice to spend time with your kids right?
ReplyDeleteGood luck and more important: have fun next Sunday!
Oh definitely - we love getting time with our kids, and missing a run was well worth it. :)
DeleteHey, maybe missing those two runs were a good little break for your legs considering that you have the 10K. I am also painfully slower than I wish I was these days, but like you, I am so glad I can run!
ReplyDeleteYeah, looking back on my year of not being able to run sure gives me some perspective about this.
DeleteOh I don't want to hear about your stinkin weather..lol. We were blessed with a few nice spring days and now it is rainy and cold. I told my sister i'm going to slap the first person (in our neck of the woods) who even begins to complain about how hot and humid it is this summer. We deserve some heat!!!
ReplyDeleteI know, I know...but it takes me a while to adjust to the soupy morning runs. I get so I like not having sweat pour off of my entire body for those precious few winter months!
DeleteAh Texas, how I love thee. EXCEPT FOR THE WEATHER. My favorite part of the humidity was getting out of the shower, and I COULD NOT get dry.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, you are a running beast! And I am so happy that you are having fun and enjoying running again.
For real on the shower thing. Was just dealing with that today!
DeleteDo your kids save up all the projects for when you visit? :D
ReplyDeletePretty much! This was a move, so the entertainment center needed to be set up, which is always worth a few cuss words.
DeleteI had to laugh at Lori's comment, because it seems whenever you visit your kids it involves furniture building/moving/heavy lifting! :D
ReplyDeleteI know...they plan it that way, I swear. At least this time our youngest had hired movers, so we didn't have to do that.
DeleteWe have had to turn on the a/c late afternoon...yucky humidity 😕
ReplyDeleteWe've had a littl e heat and humidity up here, too. I'm not complaining though. (Then again, I'm not running in it. :) )
