Friday Mishmash

Well, our New Year's 5K didn't happen, boo!  It was pouring rain, and really cold and quite frankly, no one (including me) wanted to get out in that mess.  It's also looking like our freaking 11 mile run tomorrow will be in similar weather - ugh.  What is this, winter or something?

Speaking of winter and being cold, Paco has been enjoying the warmth of our fireplace and my lap:
The picture of contentment!

You can see in the picture above that I'm knitting, but just barely - the base of my right thumb is still really sore, which is a little frustrating.  I have lots of lovely yarn just waiting to be knitted, but it hurts to do so.  This is going on two weeks now - come ON, thumb - heal already!!!

Our youngest upgraded to an iPhone this week, and used it as we left the store to take a picture of what I've been enjoying doing quite a bit lately...namely, driving my MINI:
In case you're wondering, I usually do have a huge smile on my face every time I'm driving it!

I've taken down our Christmas decorations, put the house back in order, and have even stopped trying to keep up with everyone's eating habits - funny how I tend to fall back into that when the holidays roll around.  At least I realize that it's only for a couple of weeks, at most, and I do regain my sanity about food fairly quickly, so there's progress in that sense.  I'll be back on Monday with my plans for 2015 - have a great weekend!

  1. That kind of weather makes me want to stay inside for sure - I hope the forecast is wrong for the 11 miler this weekend! Our winter has thus far been cold and dry. Decent for running, but I'm really starting to miss snow!

    1. Miss SNOW?? Have you forgotten the winter that was the Polar Vortex?? LOL - I get what you mean...snow is just expected, and when it doesn't happen, it's odd.

    1. I drove it today in the rain and got to experience the intuitive windshield washers - they come on when they sense rain! Very cool - this car is so much fun!

  4. Ooh, now I want a mini too!!!

Sorry about the sucky weather, but if it puts you in an introspective sort of mood, that's perfect for figuring out goals and plans and stuff.

Can't wait to hear what's on tap for 2015!

  7. Awwww look at Paco, so cute.

Too bad the run didn't happen, as I promised you I did go out for a run on the first day of a new year. But it had frozen overnight and I had to be careful that I wouldn't slip but in the end it went fine.

I know what you mean smiling when you drive your car. I enjoy my car still so much, it's a pleasure driving it.

Look forward to your plans for this year.
