Our temperatures dropped nearly 50 degrees on Sunday and stayed well below freezing into Monday...and then it started to rain.  Here's a picture of our birdhouse, complete with icicles:
It's pretty?  Sigh...I am ready for the extreme cold temperatures to go away.

I was doing some hand stitching the other evening and had two companions:
I am under no delusion...I know that Kip (the cat) was only laying with me because it was cold.  Paco, on the other hand, thinks the sun rises and sets with me, and was so disturbed that he had to share my legs with that interloper.  He continually sighed and wouldn't go to sleep until Kip finally left.

Yesterday I got to spend some time with my favorite little guy, Davis.  He knows how to push the button on an iPhone to take a selfie:
Pretty good framing for a 16-month old!

And he's also enthralled with the "bacuum":
That retractable cord was super fun to pull out over and over and over...

*******************

I bought two skeins of yarn when I was in North Carolina - one, because the dyelot was just so beautiful I had to have it...Malabrigo Rasta in Indiecita colorway:

Right now, I'm in the "I just want to look at this" stage with the yarn...I don't even want to knit anything just yet because then it will be gone!

I also bought a skein of Adriafil Knitcol, which is a self-striping/patterning merino wool.  I looked on Ravelry to see what other people had made with it, and found this cute, hipster baby hat, so I made it even though I don't know any cute hipster babies at the moment:

Pattern is Free Babee Chullo, yarn is Knitcol in colorway #62.

 It's too adorable - I almost can't stand it!

Have a great weekend!

  4. Love the hat Shelley, great colours.

And I LOVE Paco, he is really the best dog in the USA. He's so cute and adores his Mom so much. Seeing this photo says that it's time to shut my computer down and go home to my own sweetheart.

    Have a great weekend sweety.

Anyway, loved this. Love your love of good yarn. The hat is too fabulous!

And a little boy already enthralled with machines! That picture is a classic.

  6. Guess what? I finally convinced Tony that it's time to get another dog - can't wait! I would love a lap dog like Paco - but I think that would be too small of a dog for Tony! Hope warmer weather is on the way!

    1. I would wear it, too. Hmmm, now I need to look for an adult-sized pattern (and get more of that yarn, of course)!

The new yarn is so pretty! And that hat is cute! I'm just sad it's for a baby and not a grown-up, I love earflaps.

  11. Your warm weather must have been sent this way because today the temperature hit 53 degrees! The snow and ice are melting which is a welcome relief after a brutal winter.

Love the picture of your lap companions! Your cat looks just like mine.
The hats are adorable! Love the yarn!
