Wednesday Workout Update

Three miles ran, woohoo!

As part of Lori's Heart Healthy Weekend, I pledged to run a 5K last Saturday.  I had intended to do the GLOW 5K fun run with Amy and Julia, but I ended up going out of town, so I ran 3 miles early Saturday morning.  After our nice warm weather earlier in the week (I got to wear short sleeves to run on T/Th - no jacket, no mittens...it was a nice change), we were back to cold temps.  Oh well, it IS still February, after all - I shouldn't complain.  The run was good, the company was good, and it's always fun to start the day out doing a pre-dawn run with friends:
Me, Amy, Andi, Karen, Julia and Dana - USAFit still runs, even on the off-season!

It was Amy's birthday, so we celebrated at Blue Baker:
She ran three miles that morning and another three that evening...without planning it, Amy ended up doing 3 and 3 for her 33rd birthday!

I've been out of town since Saturday evening, so I haven't been able to get much exercise in except for walking.  I have a 5K this Sunday (the Armadillo Dash) and I'm trying to not stress over the fact that I've missed so much running this week (and the week before last due to wintery weather).  Hopefully I'll get through that race without embarrassing myself.  Eek!

P.S.  In case you missed it, I snuck in a review/giveaway for Goji Play yesterday - check it out!

  1. I've seen people running without jackets and in shorts here too already, bit too cold for me yet but we are heading towards the right weather. I would enjoy the colder runs if I were you, there will be plenty of hot, sweaty runs the rest of this year.

You'll be fine next Sunday, just take it easy. Good luck.

  4. I like Amy's attitude! Besides I feel like you could run a 5K in your sleep at this point.

  5. It was 40 degrees during my long run last week, and I saw so many people out in shorts or not wearing jackets. This winter has changed what we think is "cold," so apparently 40 is super warm now. That said, a week later it's 1 degree out so 40 does sound pretty nice. Sigh. Anyway, good luck on Sunday, I'm sure you'll do just fine!

    I turn 33 this year too, I may have to steal Amy's 3 and 3 idea :)

    1. Yikes, 40 degrees certainly is relative depending on what could be worse! And for sure, steal the 3 and 3 idea for your birthday. :)

  6. It was so fun to see the camaraderie that you all share. What a nice group of caring people. You don't find that everywhere.

  7. Sounds like you're just about ready to drop the self-imposed expectations and just have a great time without worrying how you do. Funny how we can put all this pressure on ourselves when no one else gives a crap. :) I am HORRIBLE about that myself.

    1. I know, I don't judge other runners during a race (OK, maybe some outfits...), so why do I think anyone else really cares if I'm running slower than usual??

  9. You have nothing to worry about. You won't embarrass yourself. If anything embarrassing does happen to you, I hope that it is in an area with no crowds on the side of the road :D

  10. Don't worry - you'll be just great on race day! And for the record, I'd much rather have your February weather than ours. That is all. :D

    1. Current weather forecast shows 70% chance of thunderstorms for raceday - here's hoping our wonky Texas weather will change before then!
