I tried it. Set my toaster on fire. Really really on fire. Briefly considered slapping flames with a wet towel, but eventually I was able to blow everything out. Much harder than the last time I tried to blow out candles on a birthday cake. Of course it's been a while since I've had my actual age in candles on a cake, so who knows...it may be about the same degree of difficulty. Anyway, I guess the moral of the story is don't try everything you see on the internet. Also? Buy a toaster oven if you really want cheese toast.

I have some outtakes from the race last Sunday...just some pictures that I couldn't quite fit into the official recap, yet I still wanted to post, so here goes:
This couple was checking into the hotel at 5:30 am - booty call? They looked a little overdressed compared to all of the runners in the lobby.
Max may have been a teensy bit worried before the race...
If I had abs like this Santa woman, I'd run in that outfit, too.
The dog came in following the marathon winner - not sure what that was all about, but he seemed to be having a good time!

I'm showcasing a couple of my favorite looks for Fashion Friday - really, when I wear these outfits, I wonder why I bother with some others - I need to work on being more picky with what I buy. If I don't absolutely LOVE IT, I should not buy it. Period.
Sorry, I know this is a little dark, but I wanted to show you how much I love this look - this is the dress I wore to Sam's graduation with a little black cardigan buttoned over it. Black tights and my black boots (which sadly I noticed are wearing out - boo to cheap faux leather!) complete the look and I felt very stylish!
I LOVE this sweater. Saw it a couple of months ago at Steinmart and picked it up immediately, and didn't even put it down when I saw the price - $24 - which is more than I usually spend on a sweater. I'm so glad I bought it - every time I wear it, I feel great. Worth every penny!

We get to relax on Saturday - woohoo! Sunday morning, you'll find us working a water stop at mile 16 of the inaugural BCS Marathon - I'm just hoping for no rain. I don't think I can take another freezing cold and wet Sunday - at least, not so soon!
Have a good weekend - stay warm and dry!
Congrats to Lori for winning the jersey.
ReplyDeleteI love that sweater too. Your looking pretty cute. I love your hair longer.
ReplyDeleteStay dry over the weekend. Relax on Saturday!! You deserve it.
Congrats to Lori. Can't wait to see what she looks like in it.
Booty Call! Hahahahahaha! Probably.
ReplyDeleteI love that sweater. It reminds me of one I kept seeing at White House/Black Market (that one was $79) that I really wanted and kept hoping 'someone' would buy me.
Hope the weather holds up for you!
Lori deserves this shirt, I bet she'll look great in it. Congrats Lori.
ReplyDeleteI love, love, love your dress! It looks so good on you and it's a dress I would definitely buy myself.
Have fun tomorrow at volunteering.
O that's bad about the toaster! And the booty call. Thanks for the laughs this morning!
ReplyDeleteThat is great that Lori won that shirt!
ReplyDeleteI laughed when you said you saw the price and didn't put it down--$24. For some people that number would have been more than twice as much! Steinmart--my friend is always gabbing about Steinmart. I guess maybe I should check it out?
You DID NOT do that stupid toaster thing! Did you? OMGosh Shelley. Ask Santa for a toaster oven for Christmas. I have the tiniest kitchen, but I cannot live without my toaster oven. (don't have a toaster though)
Ha - gotta love the picture in the hotel lobby!
ReplyDeleteLove that sweater too, although the frugal in me probably couldn't spend $24 on a sweater. :D
Thanks for your email - I'll reply to it soon - HUGS and happy Friday!
congrats lori!!
ReplyDeleteyou look smashing in both ensembles! and i am with ya 100% -- only buy clothes ya love & wanna wear every day!
Ah - well, maybe next time!
ReplyDeleteWe really need to meet up for coffee!
And the toaster - yep - been there done that!
Congrats to Lori!
Booty call, ya think? LOL
ReplyDeleteGreat outfit! I need to check out Steinmart. Oh wait, I'm supposed on shopping hold until my weight stabilizes where I want it...
Hi Shelley, laughed out loud at the booty call. So funny. LOVE the dress!!! Have a wonderful weekend!!!!
ReplyDeleteI love that you snapped a picture of the booty call! Uh, well, not THE booty call, but the precedings. ;)
ReplyDeleteI love your outfits, and did you know you have really great hair?
Eeeee!! I won! Yay!
ReplyDeleteThat is a sweet outfit, too. I don't think $24 is bad for a sweater at all. Of course, that is about my max :D
ROFL at your toaster story!!! I can't believe you actually tried it. Hahahaha!
ReplyDeleteI love that you have found your style; the great nips at the waist, fun colors and prints, and you know your silhouette well. $24 is very reasonable for a sweater too. Love the colors!
You look GREAT Shelley. I love that first outfit! I want to rock the clothes like that! I need boots :)
ReplyDeleteLove those outfits too!
ReplyDeleteI hope the weather cooperates and its warmer out than last year - have fun at mile 16!!
I was cracking up reading about your cheese toast. It really caught on fire?! Hmmm.....broiler in oven may work better after all.
ReplyDeleteLOVE those outfits. They look so put together. Very nice.
Have fun at the race! Can't wait to see the pictures. No rain!!
Love ALL of the photos, but particularly the couple checking into the hotel at 5.30. D-oh!
ReplyDeleteWish there was a photo of the on-fire toaster though! And.. you're right... we should only buy clothes we really love. I've bought WAY too many just because I didn't look TOO fat in them, or because I was desperate and they covered the ugly bits!

ReplyDeletelate to the soiree but still loving the sweater (and the lori AND the YMX :) happy for her).
ReplyDeleteHere's to a good week for us both.
xo
OOo, I love the cardi! haha on the 'splurge'. I am equally parsimonious..
ReplyDeleteUm, I think the grilled cheese thing is staged..fake..just to make us laugh. And now you have made me laugh. HA.
Have a great week, dear.

That "booty call" woman's pants are at least as tight as her...uh...boyfriend's are loose. Strange.
