SCAPE Sunscreen Review and Giveaway!

Recently, Scape sent me a sample pack of Athlete's sunscreen and lip balm to try out...you know I, a late-bloomer with a serious case of Adult-Onset Athletics, loved this!

Scape is formulated to not run into your eyes when you sweat, so seeing as I sweat like a fiend, I felt pretty qualified to test it out. I have to say, it delivered - no stinging eyes as a result of the sunscreen pouring into them during my hot Texas runs! And even though I run early in the morning, the sun is out and believe me, I can get a sunburn as early as 8:00 am - by then, it's in the mid-eighties, people! So in an effort to take better care of myself, I'm trying to do the right thing and apply sunscreen on a more regular basis. I liked Scape - it's a little thicker than the Coppertone Sport that I was using, but it sure seems to have some staying power. I guess that's because it's not sliding down my face or arms, lol. The sunscreen has a very light scent that I only noticed for a minute (I'm pretty sensitive to scented cosmetics on my face and always choose unscented if I can). The lip balm has a light lemon scent. I will admit that I still like my Burt's Bees lip balm better, but the Scape has sunscreen in it (SPF 50!) so I try and remember to use it when I'm out in the sun.

The good news is that the fine folks at Scape also sent me an extra sample pack for one lucky reader! One of you will receive a tube of Scape SPF 30 sunscreen and an SPF 50 lip balm!!! To enter, just leave me a comment telling me what you ate for breakfast this morning. (What, you were expecting something sunscreen related??) That's it - easy as pie (mmm, pie). I'll draw a winner after 10:00 pm CST Thursday night and announce it on the Friday Mishmash, interwebs-willing. U.S. addresses only - sorry to my international peeps. Good luck, and don't forget to apply your sunscreen!

FCC alert: Scape sent me two sets of sunscreen and lipbalm for free - one to try and one to give away. Opinions expressed in this review are all mine.

  5. Well, I was late leaving the house and had to go vote in our primary so I grabbed a Jimmy Dean D-Lights Turkey Sausage Bowl to eat once I got to work. That would be my go to breakfast in a pinch.

I'm bad about the sunscreen thing when I run, which makes no sense since I'm good about it the rest of the time.

  6. Ooh, those sound great. I have the "sunscreen/sweat dripping into my eyes and stinging" problem a lot. For breakfast, I had Emergen-C, some sweet potato bread custard that I made, and I'm still drinking my honey vanilla chamomile tea!

I am off for a several mile walk jog (my wog) and was going to skip the 'screen, but now I will be sure to use some..thanks Mom, uh, I mean Shelley.

  11. I had no idea there was such a thing!! I've never had any that didn't slide right off my face and into my contacts.

  12. Thanks for the review. I hate the sunscreen melting into my eyes and stinging.

I had (non-frosted) mini-wheats, fat free milk and one luscious peach for breakfast. Notice the lack of Splenda! I gave it up three weeks ago!

  22. Ooooh....I love the abbreviation as well - I'm an AOA sufferer as well!

And the only cure is...more cowbell!

    Haha. I crack me up.

Anyway - breakfast was "technically" a protein shake (drank before my morning run). My first meal-meal, which involved chewing, was a turkey sandwich and some red grapes. :)

  23. I hang my head in shame in admission that I was breakfast-free this morning. Was up all night with a wife with a stomach bug...I'll be back on the brekkie in the morning.

    A.O.A....get it copywritten...now!

  24. Oh its your sistah here--I also burn when the sun is not even apparent. That's the worst sunburn I ever got--I was up in the mountains in New Mexico somewhere and didn't realize I was 'closer' to the sun and would burn even if it was cloudy or something like that.

Anyway, I guess you didn't ask about our sunburn experience. For breakfast I had one of my blueberry scones, and a small bowl of my homemade greek yogurt. This was fun reading what other people eat for breakfast.

  25. I should apply sunscreen every day, even just in the car I notice my farmers tan is getting worse - not sure I'll ever get rid of it and that was way back on May 29 at Hannah's graduation!

I am hoping a Chicago winter will even out my arms!

I've actually never heard of that brand, but like the fact that it doesn't run with the sweat.

    Happy Wednesday Shelley!

  26. Hey Shelley!
Was glad to read your review on this product... lots o' people have been trying it lately, apparently. And since you and I seem to have the same 'sweat gene,' I'm good with the results if you say it's so! :)

As for breakfast... boring cereal today, and blue chips by 9:30 am... LOL!

    *hugs from orlando*
