It's a 4x4 inch sticker, suitable for anywhere from your car to the cover of your training log. And for the first 20 people who email me their mailing address, I'll send you one for free! I know that not everyone who reads this blog is a runner, and not every runner wants to do a half marathon, but if this is your goal, or if you've already run a half and want another way to show the world (or at least your neighbors), then let me know - my email is 40somethingsjourney@gmail.com. Good luck, and if you don't end up being one of the lucky 20, I'm working on a way to sell these for a nominal fee on my sidebar soon.

And now, it's time for ::cue Ty Pennington and his bullhorn:: EXTREME MAKEOVER: ANKLE EDITION!!!
My ankle is not a whole lot improved. (and apparently I've lost my ability to write a coherent sentence as well) It still hurts, the bone is still very prominent, and I am a little concerned - well, a lot concerned - I really thought it would be showing more signs of improvement after over a week of no running. So I am launching the EXTREME MAKEOVER: ANKLE EDITION part of my recovery. Except for going to the gym to ride the recumbent bike, I plan on spending most of my time
My netbook, so I can blog from bed, library books (Jonathan Tropper is hilarious and poignant at the same time), a few running books to inspire me (via Half Priced Books sale - I loves me a good book bargain!), phone, iTouch for tunes and remotes for the TV/Roku. Not pictured is Paco, but you know he will be there.
I want to get better. I want to run Austin. I really missed not being able to run on Saturday. So I'm going to do whatever it takes to get back into my running shoes. Poor Ricky Bobby is feeling neglected. My new Runner's World training journal looks pathetically empty. And I want to run, dangit!

Also? Don't forget to enter my giveaway for Rocco DiSpirito's new cookbook here.
FTC disclaimer: Build a Sign gave me stickers. Lots and lots of stickers. Which was quite nice of them. :)
I just happen to be training for a half-marathon distance for the end of February - I LOVE this sticker!
ReplyDeleteSending you an e-mail right now....
But, I'm more than half crazy!!!
ReplyDeletexo xo xo xo xo xo xo
ReplyDeleteI want you to run austin too.
AND NOT JUST BECAUSE IM SELFISH THAT WAY.
I was hoping to read of a miraculous recovery. Not this week, I guess. I do love your extreme recovery plans and supplies.
ReplyDeleteContinuing well wishes for your bony ankle.
It's sticker monday! I emailed you!
ReplyDelete:( ssorry to hear the ankle is still giving you trouble. Such a bummer. Sounds like you have a good plan.
ReplyDeleteI emailed for a sticker :)
Boo on bad ankles and inflammation! Screw it.
ReplyDeleteI want you to run Austin too. Well actually, I just want you to be able to run comfortably again.
{{{{{Hugs}}}}}
That sticker is so cute. I can't wait to display mine proudly. It's on the fridge right now so I can see it and be inspired each day. :) OH, I have my first half marathon picked out. I think. In April. Yay!
ReplyDeleteDarn ankle. Rest, ice. You know the drill. If that doesn't work, threaten it.
I've been wanting that Chi Running. It's by the guy who founded Newton shoes! Kim at Fit to Run was telling me about it. She said that book is the "why" and Natural Running is the "how". I picked up Natural Running at their store but haven't read it yet.
Take care of you. Need me to go pick you up some ice cream at LaKing's? Not sure if it would make it all the way to College Station but I'd try. :)
I have just sent you an email...hope that I make the cutoff!
ReplyDeleteI am training for my first half marathon of 2011! (I have previously done a half marathon--though it was in 2008...and not my best work!). This sticker is awesome!!!
And hope you don't mind...but I am so going to borrow that...my new mantra!
Take care...and here's to a speedy recovery and healing of the ankle!

ReplyDeleteHi Shelley, I'm sending healing thoughts and wishes your way!!! Hope that ankle is better in NO time!!!! Take care!!!!
ReplyDeleteI love that sticker. So clever. And love your bed prep items, Paco included. So nice to have a portable heating pad!
ReplyDeleteI've got some thoughts on your ankle--I'll send you an email.
Damn Shelley, I hoped to hear better news about your ankle today. I'm sorry it didn't get much better last week. I think a week of rest might help you, you are well prepared for it.
ReplyDeleteI'm keeping my fingers crossed that you will be running again soon.
There are other Austins and other half marathons out there. You want to be able to run all the other ones, so if not doing this one because you need to heal is what has to be done, then so be it.
ReplyDeleteI have my fingers crossed that the pain eases up soon. Keep wearing that boot.
Award for you on my blog! http://rustiann.blogspot.com/2011/01/my-first-award.html
ReplyDeleteSorry you're still hurting, but....and now my doctor voice...it's only been a week. Be careful of unrealistic expectations. They lead to worse injuries and bad moods. Hang in there!
ReplyDeleteYou look prepared for recovery! That picture of your supplies is cracking me up.
ReplyDelete(I don't want to enter)
ReplyDeleteSorry your ankle is not showing much improvement. :( When I sprained my ankle over the summer (I know it's not the same thing), I literally had to spend 4 days in bed elevating and icing to see ANY improvement - good luck!
Well darn it on the ankle. You look like you know how to recover in style. Hope your hubs doesn't mind shring the bed with all your"company"
ReplyDeleteFeel better...and that's an order (like you need one)
Hang in there. I hope your ankle heals quickly!
ReplyDeleteIf you need another book to read, someone just recommended The Happiness Project to me.
Cheers
Love the sticker. Never heard of the slogan before and, yes, I occasionally live under a rock.
ReplyDeleteHope your ankle is feeling better soon.
Looks like you're armed and ready to rest! Hang in there and be patient! Hoping it will get better soon!
ReplyDeleteWinks & Smiles,
Wifey
Sorry the ankle isn't healing fast enough for you, but resting is the best thing right now!
ReplyDeleteIt's funny, but I was hoping Paco would be in the "tools" in staying off your feet!
Thanks for your well wishes Shelley!!
Hope your ankle is feeling better soon. Hang in there my friend!!!
ReplyDeleteHope the ankle starts to feel better....email me if you have any questions honey!
ReplyDelete*hugs*
Your body is not disintegrating. You are strong! Even young whippersnappers get injuries. My teenage niece was doing a cross-country run, came down a hill wrong, and snapped her thighbone in two. She's back running now. You will be too.
ReplyDelete((((ankle))))
Received my sticker- THANK YOU!! :)
ReplyDeleteThat sticker is hilarious; great idea for a tagline!
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry you are injured, but you are being a great sport about it. Hang in there, Shelley!
