Friday Randomness - It Ain't Pretty, Folks

You can blame Debby for what you are about to see - I apologize in advance - but because she gave me the OH MY BLOG! award, I have to post this awful picture of myself...you may want to avert your eyes and just quickly scroll past it...
Puffy eyes, greasy skin, flat hair - jealous?!?

The rules of this award are:

1. Get really excited that you got the coolest award EVER!
2. Choose ONE of the following options of accepting the OMB award:
(a) Get really drunk and blog for 15 minutes straight, or for as long as you can focus.
(b) Write about your most embarrassing moment.
(c) Write a “Soundtrack of your childhood” post.
(d) Make your next blog a ‘vlog’/video blog. Basically, you’re talking to the camera about whatever.
(e) Take a picture of yourself first thing in the morning, before you do anything else (hair, make up, etc) and post it.
3. Pass the award on to at least three, but preferably more, awesome bloggers as yourself. Don’t forget to tell them.

I'm going to torture honor the following bloggers with this award - and please, someone - post a morning picture so I can have some company! The OMB award goes to:
  1. Kyle - Because he's such a supportive blog-friend AND is skinny now but won't admit it.
  2. Kelly - Hang around her long enough and you begin to believe you can do a half-marathon.
  3. POD - Have mercy, this woman is funny!
Alright y'all - let's see those pajama pictures!

********************

I am sad that I don't have a race to run this weekend! Although there are several in my town, they conflict with my stupid Saturday work schedule. What will I do?!? Somebody give me a piece of paper with a number on it and a cool t-shirt, stat!

********************

Is it wrong that the manager of our local Red Mango frozen yogurt remembers me? Hmmm, that might be a sign I've been going there too much...but it's soooo good and full of healthy probiotics! Still. Must cut back. Tomorrow. Wait, Monday - that's it - I'll start Monday. Gee, that sounds vaguely familiar!

********************

So yeah, speaking of cutting back, I'm going to *gulp* work a little harder at watching what I eat for the next few months - I've done an EXCELLENT job of maintaining my weight (which translates to not having lost a pound) in recent months. And while this may be the weight I will eventually stay at, I'd like to give it one more try to see if I can lose a little more - like 15 pounds. So I'm putting this out there and going on record that I will be actively trying to diet. If I turn into Miss Crankypants, please let me know (in the nicest possible way because if I'm already cranky you know I won't take it well, haha).

********************

It is so strange to me that almost always on Thursday evenings, as I'm lying in bed watching my DVR'd shows (Survivor and hopefully The Office before I fall asleep), I feel energized and ready to exercise. This is after one day's rest - after working out for three days in a row! Seems like I would need more rest than that, but maybe my body is getting faster at recovery? Do you think I actually take advantage of this energy and get up early on Fridays and go for a run? Oh heck no! I should...but so far, I haven't. Truth be told, I'm writing this post on Thursday night, so who knows? I just might surprise myself. Knowing my lazy self, though, I doubt it.

Have a good weekend!

  4. lOl, thanks for your comment. How very sharp of you to notice the pictures from one post to the next being in contrast.
I am not an alcoholic but I did go to AA meetings as part of a class I took in college.
And no worries, I can't figure me out either.

  5. That's not a bad morning picture at all. You look well rested and there is a smile on your face - something to be said for that.

Can we hold hands on losing that last bit of weight? I made that commitment to give it one more try as well.

  6. Oh thank you (I think) for the award! Do you really want to see me first thing in the morning? I can show you puffy eyes. Or how about drogging (drunk blogging)? At least that would be more fun. But, alas, the calories. Gee. So many ways to humiliate myself. LOL

Frozen yogurt sounds so good. I was wanting some Swirll last night too.

OK, May is our month! We will stick to goals. We will run on a schedule. And we will lose some weight. Won't be easy but we're tough gals. We can do it. :)

  7. I'm in the 15-more-if-I-possibly-can club. Might make the difference in my blood sugars, I don't know.

You're cute in the morning, though I personally would have gone for the drunk blogging :)

  8. Did you comb your hair?! I love you Shelley and I absolutely, positively hope POD accepts and I cannot wait to see what she does.

Yes! Get up and run on Friday mornings unless you have a Saturday race. Just my .02.

  9. My respect for you has risen to new levels. Although that's not a bad picture...I don't even like looking in the mirror in the morning...I think you are brave. I like your smile. A lot.

  10. You look a hell of alot better then me in the morning.

    Have a great "working" weekend.

  11. I've posted several "first thing in the morning" pictures because my housemate, Gay Boyfriend, likes to show people how insane I really look, and always manages to snap a picture of me when I look particularly horrid. It makes him laugh.

  12. Brave woman! You are beautiful though - make up or not!

My face would have lines from where my pillow makes marks in my face - and I usually have some nice bags under my eyes too!

I am proud of myself - I got up early again today and instead of yoga opted for a 20 minute Pilates on demand - stretched out so good!

Fingers crossed the storms hold back so I can get my walk in at lunch.

    Happy Friday!

    You are so great!

  14. I have not decided exactly what to do. Whether I should get drunk and write (sounds like a baaaad idea) plus I don't like being drunk. I'm an angry drunk. I'm an abusive drunk and a cheapass drunk. Maybe the first thing in the morning photo would be good because I never look *that* bad plus I don't wear anything to bed so everyone would get quite a treat... I rarely wear makeup. It would be like cheating to take that first photo cuz I always look like fabulous. *smirk*

  15. You are funny! And brave! I would venture to say that none of us look our best first thing in the AM. That's why coffee was invented. So we could have a big mug to hide behind.

    Have a good weekend!

  16. Yes, I think all of us are waiting to see what POD does!

This was so hilarious, Shelley! And honestly, do great minds think alike or WHAT? I wrote my post a minute ago before I read yours, and I am challenging myself to lose 10 pounds!! You, me and Lori--the three short musketeers, or something!

And the frozen yogurtl--must be built into the weight loss somehow!

  17. Good morning to you too
I thought "what the h. did Shelley post a picture of me when I got out of bed?" Need I say more?

If you feel like running on Friday mornings just do it. When I work out on a regular base I find it too that my body recovers faster. Which reminds me I definitely need to go out today as it has been over a week since my last run. Shame on me.

  18. I love that you feature your bike in your header! Maybe it's been there awhile, but I just noticed it! I am thrilled to get out on my bike today, it's been rainy the last couple days, and I wasn't able to ride to work earlier in the week due to the massive amounts I had to carry.

  19. Loved the pic! I am a no make up girl and have wild naturally curly hair, so I always look like "I just woke up!" LOL :) I want to say that thanks to you I am obsessed with frozen yogurt! LOL But there is not one in my town! :( We have been traveling a lot lately, so I have been tracking down FroYo at each stop :) YUM YUM!

  20. When I was a teenager I was into the British royals too, they had Princess Diana and Princess Sarah. The day Diana died I was in shock.

But now our royals are more interesting too. If you look them up you should look for Princess Maxima, she is going to be our next Queen and look op Prince Maurits, he's so handsome :)

  21. I am with McButter pants on this one. I would LOVE to look that fabulous in the morning! It's been raining all weekend here in Indy, so God Bless the wet souls that are running our Mini-Marathon here today! May their inner fires keep them dry and their motivation be catchy, ha! Hugs, Kirsten

    Hahahaha!

If we were neighbors I would have come by on Saturday and stood outside your house with a paper cup as you passed by. :)
