An Open Letter To My Face

Dear Face:

I get it. You are (usually) the first thing people see, and you want all the glory. But enough is enough. You've lost enough weight. Stop hogging the limelight, wouldja? How 'bout letting the stomach or better yet, the thighs drop some pounds? And the upper arms - they could stand to lose some more as well. It's not that I'm unhappy that you are showing a jawline and cheekbones (although the few extra wrinkles now that the fat isn't there to fill you out is taking a little getting used to), but please, next time some weight is trying to decide where to drop off, step aside and let it come from somewhere more needy.

Thank you,
Shelley's (still chubby) Body

**********
This was brought on by the numerous "your face is so thin" comments I've received in the last week or so...and while I'm glad to be losing weight somewhere, those size 10 bermudas still don't fit (last night zippage happened, along with severe muffin-top - argh!) and my belly is still out-to-there. Plus, I really would like to get to my goal weight so I can actually build a wardrobe instead of buying just a few things to tide me over until the next size. I'm ready to get to the maintenance stage - just wish my body would hurry up and cooperate!

  1. Oh goodness, it's like we're twins at this stage of our weight loss. Clothes limbo, new wrinkles, disproportionate fat distribution. Did you have a similar composed for the boobs? I did, only it was less diplomatic.

  2. Maintenance does sound like heaven. I still have muffin toppage, too, in my skinny jeans. We will get there! We will!

  3. I can so relate. My ass is doing great, and (sadly) the sunny side of my forearms (I do NOT want to discuss the wrinkles there)...it's the boobs and stomach that need the most work. Although, I'd give $100 bucks to hear "your face is so thin". Ain't happenin' yet. REJOICE! It's a compliment, sistah! :D

  4. Wouldn't that be nice if the weight would come off where we wanted it to instead of randomly! For me, I lost in the face & chest, thank you very much, the hips and belly were the very last things to go.

BUT - go they did. And those areas that bother you will go too as you get closer and closer to your goals!

  5. The first places I lose weight my feet, my hands, my earlobes, and then my face. I feel like saying to people, "yes, I have lost 60 lbs--check out how skinny my feet are."

  6. Amen sister! Right there with you in the "make do" wardrobe. So tired of it.

I have been stuck in the weightloss for a while now. Ready to move on! But I shouldn't complain too much. My weightloss has been pretty even over my body. And somehow I have managed not to have any saddlebags! Praise Jesus!

As far as my boobs go, I actually went up in cup size! I was so confused before I figured it out too. I couldn't figure out why I couldn't get a bra that would fit. On a fluke I tried a larger cup size and what do you know! Best fit in a long time.

  7. That has definitely been my biggest comment since losing weight the "OMG your face looks so different!" I wish they would say "OMG your ass looks fantastic" OK maybe not really...but I know what you mean.

  10. I think all the unimportant places of my body lose it first (fingers, toes, earlobes)! Now I have wrinkles to look forward to? Say it isn't so!

  11. How cool is that??!! People are telling you that you have a skinny face! :D

It will eventually all catch up!

  12. Even though I can imagine your irritation that you're not losing weight on the parts of your body that you want to, your post made me laugh!

You did write in a hilarious way!

  13. I'm a "top down" loser, too. I starts in my face, erases my boobs, finally hits my gut and takes forever and four days to get to my butt and thighs! But such is life. You look great!

  14. It all evens out in the end, Shelley - or at least it did the last time I was thin enough to be considered "normal weight". Maybe people are just too shy to comment specifically on your other thinning body parts - but then again the overall "you look great" comment never hurts.

  15. LOL!! Love this post! :) Too bad "spot reduction" isn't real huh? lol!! I'd like my last bit of weight to come from my tummy only.. we shall see!

Keep on keepin' on though!! You'll get there!!! :)

  16. Hang in there! The weight will eventually start coming off in other areas. Wouldn't it be nice to target specific spots and decide where our weight would come off... mine started in my chest :(

  18. you are such a funny writer
and this post reminded me of the line (quote? no clue where its from originally but the husband and I say it all the time):

    ITS FUNNY BECAUSE IT'S TRUE.

I totally could have written this post.

to my face and to my TaTas.

  19. But (and I mean this sincerely and not in a "if only you'd lose weight" way), you have a beautiful face. The rest of you is lovely, too, and those size 10 Bermudas will fit soon, I'm sure of it, but your face, my dear, is so very pretty :)
