Even weird things like peanuts - I threw away three tins of peanuts because I was eating them every night after work and before dinner.

Sugar is particularly bad, I crave it immediately after lunch. I find that WHAT I eat has the most bearing on my weight, because if I indulge in sugary things, my body just wants to increase HOW MUCH it consumes of sugary things. You notice how I distanced myself from my body there? The same (healthy) foods are the safe foods.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12120955591911087428noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3067665701316634699.post-11159278420882624932012-03-21T17:23:21.974-05:002012-03-21T17:23:21.974-05:00I know what you mean about sugar. The less of it ...I know what you mean about sugar. The less of it I eat, the better off I am. This pregnancy/diabetes thing is throwing me off my game. First appointment they tell me I don't eat enough carbs, and the baby needs them. I'm not sure how this could be, since my blood sugar is within normal range, but whatever, I obey.
Now that I am TEMPORARILY on insulin for the duration of the pregnancy (and no longer, no matter what anyone says and you diabetes clinicians can shove your predictions of Type II diabetes right where the sun don't shine because I AM GOING TO GET BETTER - GOT IT?) it has become even more important for me to keep up on my carb intake.
Carbs make me hungry. This morning, I hadn't had enough carb at breakfast, so I ate a piece of a doughnut. I don't even like doughnuts, and this wasn't a very good doughnut anyway. But as soon as I finished the piece, I wanted more. So, I ate more. Before the morning was over, I'd eaten the whole thing. I could have eaten my snack carbs as fruit, like I usually do, but there was that stupid, gross doughnut. It was so easy. No peeling like with an orange (seriously? I even have fresh cuties in the house!)
Well, now those stupid doughnuts are gone. Jeff ate the other ones. And I still have my cuties.Jillhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09983236449210019827noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3067665701316634699.post-85226486866861868182012-03-20T12:49:37.975-05:002012-03-20T12:49:37.975-05:00That's interesting. I love trying new ingredients and recipes, and "healthifying" those old favorites with smarter ingredients. I find now too, a small serving of good food is enough. For example, in the past a big plate of something yummy like pasta...now, a cup or so of the same pasta does it for me. Not to say I don't WANT more, but I've learned a little goes a long way for me. I know that wouldn't work for everyone...but as you said, you've all just gotta find "what works for me". One thing he said that really helped me was to keep breakfast the same every day and have just a few lunches to choose from. Make it simple was his advice. I knew this would really help because all the diets I had ever tried overwhelmed me with all the shopping and cooking. And eat out - good food, not fastcrap.

As far as the repeating the same meals over and over, I definitely do that with breakfast and lunch. Very few variations during the work week. Dinner gets a little dicey for my effed-up head, and after dinner is where the behemoth lies in wait to sabotage my day. Weekends are also a little more challenging because the lack of structure, but navigable if I don't start with the wrong things.
