FMM - IMPORTANT UPDATE

Breaking news:  Tucker and Koda had a play date.  I repeat...Tucker and Koda finally had a play date, and never were two dogs happier - and I was there to witness the event!  We'd just finished up a weekday walk when Tucker and his mom came back from their walk, so the dogs got to go in the backyard and romp around.  They were elated and just ran and jumped and wrasseled and it was so much fun to watch:
Tag, you're it!
Everybody RUN!
Happy happy dogs!

They finally tired out and both Koda and Abi went inside the house through their pet door, which is part of a clear storm door.  Tucker had no idea how that worked and stayed outside, which made it even more funny when Koda came to the door and was looking at him like "why you not come inside?" and Tucker was all "what kind of magic door is this?"  He's still a puppy and doesn't know the ways of the world just yet.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch:
It was a cold day and everyone wanted to help keep me warm while I knitted.
This is what we always come home to after our Saturday run - we leave the darkened bedroom with Paco sleeping on the bed, and hours later, we wake him and Henry up when we return.  I think the blackout curtains may make them sleep longer, or maybe they're just being lazy, I don't know.  But as you can see, they didn't even jump off the bed when I walked in!
Paco had his yearly visit to the vet on Wednesday, and as usual, we posed for a selfie.  He said to tell you he was "bery nerbous but bery brave" and he liked it when he got canned cheese and beefy treats at the end of the visit.
Humiliatin' - dat's wat dis is.  Dogs don't haf to brush teef; why yu checking dem?

We have our annual St. Nick Fun Run race tomorrow, which is always a sweet little race that goes through an older neighborhood in our town.  Plus, if I recall correctly, Blue Baker is a sponsor and in years past they've had cookie platters for post-race refreshments; can't beat that!

Have a great weekend!

  1. Oh my gosh those photos of the dogs playing make me want to be a dog haha. So much joy! And fun! You did a great job capturing that.

I hope you get some nice jingle bell weather to go with your St. Nick run!

    1. I know, it would be fun to play like those dogs!

We are supposed to have great weather tomorrow for our fun, YAY!!! Not gonna lie, I feel like we are due for that!

  2. LOL at "wrassled" :)

It looks like Paco was a very good boy at his vet appointment! Heidi makes the same crazy nervous face when we take her, and typically hides from the scary vet behind one of us.

    1. He always goes under the chair when the vet first walks in, but soon enough he's coaxed out and was even wagging his tail a bit during the exam. Treats after always help. :)

  3. Oh my gosh! You got some great photos of pure doggie joy! The part about the doggie door is hilarious!

The vet examining Paco on the floor is interesting. I've noticed that more vets seem to do that instead of putting the dog on the table, which usually makes them more nervous.

    1. Watching Tucker and Koda play was really, really fun!

At this clinic, we've only had one vet over the last 11 years insist on putting Paco on the table. He doesn't like it up there, it's a slippery surface and he freaks out. So I'm very grateful that the rest of the vets (and the one who insisted has left the practice) don't mind getting down on floor level.

  5. Dogs...so unfiltered. Last vet visit, mine (a daddy's dog) got nervous and snappy, and had to be muzzled; with no power he turned into a 70 lb trembling heap on momma's lap. The looks he gave me: why are you letting them do this to me! So pitiful.

    1. Aww, poor puppy! They have a hard time understanding a vet visit; I think Paco does better than some because I was taking him ever month for so long thanks to his allergies. :(

  6. O gosh that is funny about the doggy door! So does Paco stay right on that blanket on the bed?

Sounds like a fun race tomorrow! Our annual Christmas run is next weekend but I never saw any cookies at the end...boo!

  7. One of my kitties enjoys the blackout curtains. He will sleep for hours in the bedroom. Sometimes I wake him up so he will sleep all night and not meow while I'm trying to sleep.

  9. Love, love, love the playdate. Such happy photos.

At the weekends when I get up, I let Bella out of her cradle and she always jumps on the bed and stays there till R. gets up. Doesn't matter what time it is, she always sleeps in with him.
