Pet Palooza, Volume I

Let's face it, I know why you guys come here...it's not for me, it's for my cute pets.  Paco in particular, but Kip and Henry make for some good blog fodder as well.  Here's volume I of Pet Palooza - just some pictures I've taken over the last few months.  Enjoy!

Here's Henry, who has decided after nearly 12 years of living with us to leave his two usual spots - the bed, and under the bed - to explore other areas:
Nice cool granite countertop in the bathroom...I mean, I get why he's laying there, but why???  Fur and dirt everywhere.
So he was laying where the bottle of tanning lotion is, but he was making a mess with his dirty fur, so I moved it to the center of the counter...which meant he had to pick a new spot.  Corner of the bathtub for the win, although he barely fit.
This was an unusual scene - all three pets sleeping near each other (they barely tolerate one another normally), with Henry sleeping on my legs!  He never does that.
I walked in to see Henry and Paco having a face-off on my bed...both were holding their ground and neither would move, despite growling from Paco and mowwwwing from Henry.
Henry has also started hanging out under the Sago palm in the backyard - I like to think this is his version of paradise.  We recently replanted it into a much-needed larger pot, plus it sprouted a new set of leaves, which makes the plant look so lush!

Kip has always been more available for hanging around - he's pretty amenable to his surroundings and will always find a good spot to sleep:
On top of the table has been a new one...annoying, as who wants cat fur on the tablecloth?
Discovered that once I removed the tablecloth to wash it, the table attraction was gone, so he moved to the chair.
Pondering the meaning of life without a tablecloth...
The tiniest edge of my desk seemed like a good spot, until I needed to write a blog post.  Then I made him move.
Nothing beats sleeping on Jeff - both Kip and Paco fought for a spot, but in the end all three managed to take a nice nap together.
Paco doesn't usually let this happen, but somehow Kip got the spot next to me, while Paco was relegated to the corner!

One last funny picture - I was watching a video of two cats who were yowling.  It was pretty loud, and Henry suddenly appeared in the doorway, wondering, I'm sure, who else was in the house:
WHUT IS GOING ON HERE???

Stay tuned for Pet Palooza, Volume II, on Friday.  Bet you can't guess who will be the star of that post...

  1. I love this post! Your babies are all 3 so adorable although the staring contest on the bed is my favourite.

Paco wasn't amused that Kip took his spot since he turned his back on you both LOL.

    1. The staring contest picture continues to crack me up. :)

  2. Dang it, we're pet-free at the moment but SO conflicted about it (we travel a little too much and would be shitty pet parents). But your hilarious pictures remind me how much glorious weirdness pets bring to a household.

We have a favorite picture of our old cat, who was sleeping on the crack between an armchair and ottomoan, too lazy to relocate as the two gradually scooched farther and farther apart, until she was only a furry suspension bridge barely on either piece of furniture just hanging there, still napping, still too stubborn to move. God I miss her.

    1. OMG, the image of your suspension bridge cat is cracking me up! Yep, pets are great to have, but they do make traveling a challenge.

  3. I just love how cats are so aloof one mine and all up in your biz the next. Henry makes me want a kitty! I say it, threaten it and then Mr. Helen reminds me of all the reasons why, right now, we shouldn't have one. Sigh.

    1. I don't think we'll be getting any more pets after this bunch - it's a pain to arrange care for when we travel, and it's hard on the pets, too. But kitties and puppies are so cute! Hard to resist, but resist we must.

  4. LOVED it!!! Its fun to hear that other people's pets are fighting and fussing at each other. Between the viscous pugs and Sophie, there's a lot of cantankerous talk around here.

  7. Pets are just the best. The hair, though LOL. Even with just one cat, the hair is terrible and Pixie isn't allowed in certain areas of the house (our bedroom and the basement workshop). That tabletop looks like the perfect sunspot for Kip, too.

    1. I can vacuum the entire house, put the vacuum away, and turn around and see more clumps of pet hair. How do they lose it so fast?!

  8. Ha! I love that pic of them sleeping on Jeff. And Henry on the bathtub is TOO funny! Pets are so odd. How would we live without them?!

Have you posted the stories of how they all came to be in your life? I think I started reading after, so I don't know it!

    1. We already had two cats who looked like Kip and Henry, and when I saw these matching kittens at the animal shelter, they had to come home with me. Paco came from the shelter as well, just a few months after our beloved dachshund died. The house was too quiet and I missed having someone greet me with complete adoration (let's face it, that doesn't happen with humans, LOL) whenever I came home. :)

  9. Oh to have the life of a well cared for cat or dog! Loved this!! :)

  10. Yay pet pictures!!! :) Henry looks so cute sleeping all over the bathroom. It's so funny what kind of places and surfaces pets apparently think are comfy for sleeping. Heidi loves resting her head on hard things like fans, the humidifier and chair legs. I just don't get it.

    1. Sometimes I wonder if they want to look uncomfortable just so we'll make up a little nest for them. Pets are strange. :)
