Friday Mishmash

Not gonna lie, when Paco randomly sits and stares at nothing at night, it freaks me out just a little:
No one, not even the cats were inside the house when he was doing this.  It was also dark in the direction where he was looking, which made me worry - what was he seeing???

Another night - this is their traditional early-evening standoff:
Back-to-back, each on their own cushion, not acknowledging the other's presence, except that Henry flicks his tail while Paco growls quietly under his breath.  Nine years of this, people...NINE YEARS.

Jeff and I throw our change into a little bucket and periodically turn it in for paper money when it gets filled.  I was bored over the weekend, the bucket was full, so I decided to see how much was in there in quarters.  Turns out?  A nice amount:
$48, woohoo!  I'm taking the bucket o'change to the bank later today to cash it in; we're going to a plant sale tomorrow and this will be our spending money.

I rearranged our guest room so I could fit in the gold chair that previously was in my office.  I think the angles work fine for a guest room; I've had this bed angled in our old house in San Antonio, but the room was much bigger and it fit a little better.  Still, this works well enough; now I just need a guest:
I moved everything by myself - the most entertaining part was laying the chair on the bed and rolling it over to the other side and into the corner.  Hey, you do what you gotta do, right?!

Tomorrow we are going to meet early and run on campus (I mapped out a simple route for our group; hopefully I won't get lost), which means we'll be there right when their annual plant sale starts - it's done by the horticulture club, and is supposed to have lots of native plants, so hopefully we can get some good specimens.  The weather has been so nice that we are ready to get the front yard and back patio all prettied up and this will surely help.

Have a great weekend!

  1. Plant Sale! We got a dusting of snow this morning...

Paco! I love him! Does it make you wonder if you have ghosts?

Guest Room! I wanna be your guest!

    1. Snow! I mean, it is March, but come on...let's just say goodbye to that mess.

I hope I don't have ghosts. But I do wonder what Paco is seeing - maybe it's the spirit of Jackie, our old dog?

Guest room is available for booking, I'm just saying. :)

    1. I was actually wondering if he is entering the early stages of doggie dementia...eventually he snaps out of it and returns to his version of normal, LOL.

  4. LOVE it! Love Paco and Henry's semi-peaceable stand-off, and the fact that you have put up with it for 9 years.

I don't remember having a dog that stares off into the distance (for no reason.) Noah does that often, with wild eyes, but he is growling under his breath, and I just presume there is a car moving somewhere nearby that he is trying to warn me about.

LOVE the new guest room arrangements. "I'll be back" (Arnold voice)

And a run with a non-food reward at the end? Especially a plant sale? Genius! (but you'll go to BB afterwards, won't you?)

  5. 9 years of that, wow, they are set in their ways aren't they. Love, love the way your guest room is decorated.

    1. Thank you - I call the guest room my "pretty room" because I got to use all kinds of antique handkerchiefs and old photos and antique baby gowns for decoration.

  6. OMG....I'm laughing VERY hard at "9 years of this". LOL!!! When Neva sits with her back legs up like Henry's are in the picture, we says she's in her "hacked off sit". And pretty much guaranteed that she's pouting or pissed off about something. KITTIES!!!!! And Paco! What did you see??? (or hear?) Have a great weekend Shelley!

  7. My dog does that too. It is really scary sometimes,or she will bark when no one is even there.

  8. Your dog picture makes me miss mine so much! She had all kinds of quirky habits--and never freaked me out!

  9. Paco is so cute! I think all dogs do that and I don't think they really see something. Mine is staring at me right now because she wants to go outside and sit in the sun but she can't. Too much risk she sees something moving in the garden and runs after it :)

Hope you scored some nice plants yesterday.

  10. I do the same thing with change. Our grocery store has a machine you can dump it into. Convenient! That's funny about the cat and dog. You'd think they would call a truce after nine years.
