Friday Mishmash

Oh Paco.  You're lucky to be so cute, because yesterday morning, after you bounded ahead of me into the bedroom, jumped on my bed and promptly horked up all the water you'd just drank, well...yeah.  You were on my list.  Thanks also for doing that on the one day when I was super busy.  Appreciate it soooo much.
I started to strip the bed and he jumped back on.  Because he felt FINE at that point.
This is why I put up with his occasional horking.  He'd dragged his blanket from the corner, closer to my desk chair, so he could sleep next to me while I wrote.  He's like Sandy and Danny from Grease - hopelessly devoted to me.
I  really deboted to my blankie, but tink whateber you want.

As much as Paco is my constant shadow, Kip is Jeff's.  Every time he sits at the computer, old Kippers comes over to help with the mouse (which is appropriate, all things considered):
Hunkering down, starting to settle in (and I just noticed Paco's blurry head in the bottom of the shot - I'm sure he had to make sure there wasn't any food on the desk that Kip might be eating).
And boom.  That's just the right spot to rest his head.  P.S.  Notice my weirdo husband uses a left-handed mouse?  Hey, I'm a leftie, but even I don't take it THAT far...

Not a lot of knitting to show for my week, but I did get my needles organized on Ravelry.  No, I'm not going to show you how many I have, because if you're not a knitter you'd be horrified...and if you ARE a knitter, you'd probably just nod your head with a "that seems about right" - ha!

I was working on a sock, but the pattern didn't turn out the way I wanted it, so I unraveled several hours' worth of work and started over.  Hopefully I'll have the completed pair to show you next week.  I did make this cute little keychain sock:
Everybody:  AWWWWW!  I know, right?  Although, I think I can do better, so I'll probably make another one soon.  I've got lots of leftover sock yarn, that's for sure!

If you're off on Monday for Labor Day, enjoy the long weekend!  It isn't a holiday in our town (except for banks), so it's pretty much business as usual for us.  We have seven miles on tap for tomorrow - in other words, just a normal Saturday.

Have a great weekend!

  1. It's a good thing Paco is devoted AND cute - helps with the annoying stuff. Hey, that's kind of like kids isn't it? LOL!

  3. Oh my goodness, how adorable are Paco and Kip! I am smiling from ear to ear.
I love it how devoted Paco is to you. Bella doesn't have a favorite: I'm her favorite person for walking and she always wants to lay with me on the couch but R. is her playdate, she loves playing with him and on Sunday mornings she keeps staring at him as long as he allows her to sit on his lap. She's lucky because R isn't sleeping at home tonight and that means she can sleep on the bed with me.

I'm a leftie too but I don't use a left-handed mouse but the mouse is on my left side. I know, I am kind of weird too :)

Have a great weekend sweety and lots of fun tomorrow.

    1. Lucky Bella, getting to sleep on the bed with you! Paco is jealous. Jeff used to use a regular mouse on the left side, but the kids gave him an actual left-handed gaming mouse a couple of years ago, so now he's all in, lol.

  4. Ha! I love the pics of your shadows ;)

Is the point of logging things on Ravelry like your projects and needles and yarn as a place to keep track? Not trying to be rude, I just don't get it. I have a spreadsheet for all my projects, but nothing for my needles yet. And sadly, I may need something for my yarn... my sister just have me a ton of her old stuff!

How is Labor Day NOT a thing there?! That is nuts!!!!

    1. No worries, I didn't get Ravelry at first either - people kept telling me to join it, and I did, but it was probably at least six months before I really began using it. It's a great place to keep track of your projects - you list your needle size, yarn, pattern, size, amount of yarn used, and then there's notes, which are not only helpful if you want to make the project again, but also it helps other Ravelers who are making the same pattern - they can see what you thought of the pattern, if the instructions were clear, if you made any modifications, etc.

Plus, if you have a skein of yarn, and want to make something with it but you don't know exactly what, you can do an advanced pattern search with the yarn weight, amount, and difficulty of pattern, plus whatever you are considering (hat, cowl, etc) and it will show you all the patterns available, which can be really inspiring. It's free to join, so why not try it?

  5. Oh my gosh. That would have made me crazy! I had a cat that did that on my bed. Only it wasn't water. Pretty soon she was an outside cat. But Paco, so cute with his bankie. BTW, I've been singing Grease songs since you first mentioned it!

Yes, I noticed right away that Jeff was using a left handed mouse! Is he left-handed? I'm leftie too, and I use a right hand mouse too.

The tiny sock is so cute. Did you knit on size 1 needles, or even smaller??

Do you have cool weather planned for your run??

    1. Jeff is left-handed. But I'm like you, a lefty who uses a right-handed mouse.

That tiny sock is actually on size 2 needles, because the first attempt, on size 1 needles, was so tiny it wouldn't fit on the keychain blocker!

Cool weather, I wish. It's going to be mid-70s, with way too much humidity. Sweat city, here we come!

  6. What cuties! Pixie lays across my forearms with the computer - and she is not a small cat LOL!

Worst thing? Getting up in the middle of the night and finding the hairball with bare feet. Ewwww...

  7. My cat drives me crazy when I'm using my laptop, reading, or doing anything really... She gets up in my face or nibbles on my fingers. I'm not a cat person so it just annoys me!

  8. The keychain sock is adorable. My cat generally doesn't care too much about me, until I sit down at the computer, or when I'm trying to read a book. So, you know, typical cat.

  9. lock the ornament. You are a sock knitting machine! I need to try one toe down.

  10. I so love your Paco stories! Not that I condone the horking part.
I use a right-handed mouse on the left side of the computer. I actually find it more comfortable to angle the mouse under my hand with my finger on the left button than have it straight like I would with a left-handed mouse.

  11. How can Labor Day not be a celebrate Holiday in your town????? I love the Paco posts! I could look at pics and read about him all day! I should really do a post about my Labrador. She is just as devoted to me as Paco is you. Gotta love our doggies!

    1. Our town's schedule revolves around A&M University - they are open, so all the public schools are as well, which means all the teachers and staff are working...
