Wednesday Workout Update

Our summer of Fun, Fitness and Friendship went by too fast!  School is starting back up and Julia had to go back to work, but we managed to squeeze in one last run/Planet Fitness/Starbucks day:
Until next summer, my friend!

Of course we will still run very, very early and sometimes go to PF together, but the lazy hazy relaxation afterward won't be happening.  I guess that's part of what makes it so special - knowing that it only happens for a short time.

Our run on Saturday went much, much better than the last week.  It wasn't particularly cooler - about 80 degrees vs. 82, and the humidity was about the same (a lovely 93%) - but I didn't feel like I was going to die, so that was a huge improvement.  This was a scale back week, which I love - we only had to run 3 miles.  Shoot, I ran that for my regular runs during the week, so this felt fine.

Julia and I were shirt twins:

Another way I can tell I'm getting lighter because this shirt that always fit a little too snug for my liking.  Hurray for being able to shop in my closet for "new" clothes!

And just for fun, here's a Hoka flower:
I couldn't pass up this photo op after our run.

  2. When I first saw the photo of the drinks, I thought they all were yours but I didn't think it was odd. Sometimes after a hard run I want ALLLLLLLLL the drinks! Mr. Helen makes fun of me because he will come in the kitchen and find water, iced tea, and coffee on the counter. Whatever.

Scale back weeks were always my favorite when training. You look at it and go "only" ___ miles? Been there done that!

Glad you are seeing results right where you want to see them :D

    1. I wish I could convey in writing the way the man in the grey Hokas says it, but he calls his shoes "Hoka on-ay on-ay" which cracks me up to no end. Sounds a little Hawaiian to me (he's not).

  4. Looking good! I love being able to shop in my own closet as well. I actually noticed that my workout pants were a little loser yesterday myself!

Fall is in the air here and I'm starting to see a few leaves changing colors and it is mid-August

  5. I love all the colors of running shoes now - you walk into a shoe store and it's like the rainbow!

Glad you got one more relaxing trip in before school starts - I guess your town is going to be swimming with college students right about now!

    1. Oh yes, it's swimming already, along with a new crop of kids who don't know where they're going and aren't the best drivers. It's pretty wild around here!

  6. Hi Shelley
It's such a great feeling isn't it when an article of clothing just slips on your body - rather than huffing, puffing & sweating to get it on.

I love your colourful shoe photo.

Congrats to you on your success!!

    1. Turkey bacon eggwhite sandwich? Or the bagel? I went for protein, Julia for carbs. :)

  9. You look great my friend!

Sad that summer is already coming to an end. Here it's so cold at the moment that it feels like Autumn -> not fun! I am just glad that the weeks we had a vacation the weather was perfect. I have one easy week left at work but first week of September everyone is back from vacation and work will be as busy as usual.

Love the brigth colours of the shoes.
