Random Things I am Loving

This self-tanning lotion:
Honestly, I'm not trying for a tan, I'm just attempting to have my legs not look so alabaster-white.  One application and I'm good for nearly a week - plus, it barely has any scent, which is a win in my book.  I got this at Target but you can find it all over - seems to run between $9 - $10.

These Nike running capris:
I finally decided it was time to replace my five-year-old Nike capris, and I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the fabric is a lot lighter now.  I've been wearing these layered with a running skirt and even on our hot days I'm not any more uncomfortable than if I was wearing my liner shorts under a skirt.  Plus they have a nifty zippered back pocket for keys and things.  My bonus with these was that they rang up at $29.95, when the price marked was $59.95...thank you, Academy!  (and yes, once I saw the price, I went back for a couple more pairs a few days later)

My new iPhone cover:
My old Otterbox was all stretched out, but I didn't want to spend the hefty amount on a new case.  Thanks to a couple of friends, I discovered this brand - Koolkase - much cheaper, but still with enough rubber bumpers and padding to save the phone if (or in my case, when) it's dropped.  Check online for the style/pricing - I think I paid $14 and change for this one, shipped.

This sports bra:
Anita Air Control.  I love it because it's strong enough to contain the girls when I run, but it doesn't feel like a straitjacket.  Plus, the mesh fabric helps to keep me from overheating.  It comes in several colors, but I am a cheapo and bought this crazy orange one because it was only (ONLY!) $37.  I've worn it for a couple of months now and liked it so much I finally bought another one, in black.  Maybe someday I'll get a white one, but not while it's only available at the regular price of $67.  Check Amazon for deals, plus they have free shipping and returns, which is helpful if you need to try out a couple different sizes.

This machine at the gym:
The leg press.  No matter what size/weight I am, I have big thighs.  But when I use this machine, I appreciate my how strong and powerful they are, which is a nice change from my usual lamenting the linebacker-size of them.

What are you loving at the moment?  Anything I should know about??  Spill it in the comments, por favor!

  2. Now I have to check out that build-a-tan; my arms and face are doing well since I get 30 minutes of sunshine every day at the park, but my legs are still and always scary white.
I'm not crazy tan, I just want a nice healthy glow.

    1. No Marshall's in my town, sadly. That is an excellent deal for Otter boxes at $4.99!

  6. Thanks for the heads up on the sports bra and because I've been regulated to this boot, I may have to use that build-a-tan! Great score on those tights too. I stock up when JCP has them on clearance as well. That reminds me - time to clean out the exercise gear.

On and forever in love with the leg press. Like you said, it's great to see just how strong we are!

  10. I am loving my new projects I have been doing. I guess that doesn't help *you*, though.

I have monster thighs. They have always been my tree trunks and get me through a lot of bike miles (probably why they are monsters).

    1. Well, your projects might inspire me to do some of mine...would you please take up sewing pillows so I can get back to that? ;)

    1. How nice to enjoy your exercise equipment - makes it all that much easier to actually do it, right? :)

      Delete
    2. Yes! But to be clear, it's not an exercise bike, it's a real ride on the road recumbent. An old Sun EZ-1 Cruiser - sort of a cross between current style recumbents and an upright bike.

    3. Oh wow - I just looked your bike up - very cool!!!

  12. So funny that you love my most hated piece of exercise equipment! Probably because you are not as wimpy as I am about the hard work involved.

And I at first misread your comment about the mesh bra, and though you said it kept you from overthinkig... in which case I should totally buy one! But overheating is also a problem, so maybe I should still buy one. :)

    Thanks for the great recommendations!

  13. I like how that bra has the hooks on the back. So many sports bras don't have that and I find them incredibly difficult to get on and off. The colors not actually bad either!

    1. Yes, the hooks are great - the last thing I want to do after a sweaty run is try to get out of a damp sports bra by pulling it over my head!

  14. I'm loving the long days and the amount of energy I have. And my thighs. :)

I'll check out the Anita bra. Hadn't heard of it before.
