Hats For Sale...?

Alright, enough people have expressed interest in my hats that I figured I'd try an experiment.  Now, please note that I knit for fun, not profit...yarn is expensive (at least the yarn that I'm drawn to), and this would keep me in more yarn.  Also, I'm not a speedy knitter, but I am detail-oriented and have just enough OCD in me to make sure the project turns out right.

Here's the deal:  I love how the Sugar Pine hat looks - I've made it several times already, both with and without a hole for a ponytail.  I have two skeins of Malabrigo Rasta (a kettle-dyed, merino wool yarn) on hand right now, and am willing to knit you a Sugar Pine hat for $40 (includes shipping via priority mail).  If you want one with a ponytail hole, just let me know.  You can pay me via PayPal; once the hat is ordered, I should have it in the mail within a week.

As a reminder, this is what the hat looks like:

First person to claim each color gets the hat; make sure your email is linked in the comments so I can touch base and arrange payment and shipping details.  And if no one orders a hat, my feelings won't be hurt - I realize you can get a store-bought one for a lot less.

Color #1 - Teal FeatherCLAIMED

Color #2 - LettuceCLAIMED

If this goes over well, I'll order more yarn and do this again.  If not, no biggie - you know I'll keep on knitting!

  1. OOH LOVE THIS. I wonder if my girl would wear the one with the ponytailhole.

  2. I am so pleased that you are charging an appropriate amount for the hat. I am a knitter as well and rarely knit for sale. Generally, I have people ask if I would knit them a pair of socks and then balk at the price. They are figuring about $15-20. Which would be fine, but given the yarn is $20 and it takes 20+ hours for me to knit, there is no way! If I choose to give it as a gift then great.

  3. Great idea! Guess I'm one of the lucky ones who has one already! Although it's not cold here yet, I have used it already on my late night walks with Bella when it was a little bit colder and I love it.

  6. These look adorable, and how clever that there's a ponytail hole! I can't really claim to need one in Sunny San Diego, but I'll bet these will be popular where it's a bit chillier. Good luck!

  7. I want the teal one!!! I was jealous of the pony tail opening - since I almost always wear my hair in a ponytail when I shovel/use the snow blower. Let me know if I "win!"

  8. Shelley, I want the lettuce one. Granted in another week or so it will be too hot to wear it here, but hey, December will be here before we know it.
