Today's Miles Shirt Review and Giveaway!

One thing that comes with running long distances is, um, how do I put this...looking like hell while you are doing it.  Let's face it - we're out there for hours, slogging through the heat and humidity, sweating, red-faced and looking (slightly) like death, while pretty runners zip by, looking all fresh and sweet...of course they do; they're only running a couple of miles!  How can we tell?  Because they aren't carrying hydration - you can't get away without that for very long here in Texas.  But to the outside world, they look like the Runner's World magazine models, while we definitely do not make running look attractive...which really is OK, because we know that we're putting in the effort and it shows (oh, it shows all right).

Still, my running club peeps and I have often talked about how we needed to wear a shirt that said how many miles we were running on our long run days, just to proclaim to the world that "yes, we look awful, but THIS is why" (and I realize I'm not making a very good case for running in general - really, it's fun...join us).  So you can probably imagine my absolute glee when I saw an ad in the back of Runner's World magazine for Today's Miles - a company that prints how far you're running on a technical shirt.  PERFECT!  I emailed them and asked for a shirt to try out and they very generously sent me one, plus offered another for a giveaway!

Here's me after our 10 mile run on Saturday, wearing my Today's Miles shirt:
No doubt about how many miles I was running!
And the back...how fun, right?!

I layered it over a long-sleeved technical shirt because it was 43 brisk degrees when we started our run.  The actual shirt is a Hanes unisex technical shirt - I requested a medium and it fit fine.  The only thing that might be an issue for me, if it was a hotter time of the year (which, knowing our strange weather, could be next month), is that the decal is pretty big and really cuts the breathability and wicking of the shirt...I've had a couple of race shirts like this and felt so sealed in by the heat that I couldn't wear them once it got hot and humid.  So you might take that into consideration if you want to order one - or you might live in part of the country where you don't have to think about these things...lucky you!

These shirts go for $19 for a short sleeve, and $25 for a long sleeve, but you can win one and choose the number of miles you'd like printed on it, along with your color choice (blue, green, red, orange, white, neon yellow, safety orange).  To enter the giveaway, please tell me how many miles you'd put on your shirt (they offer 3.1 through 15, and then 18, 20, and 26.2).  This giveaway is open to everyone on planet earth, although it'll still say miles and not kilometers - but hey - it can be a math challenge if you're outside the U.S. and win!  I'll announce the winner on Friday's mishmash.  Good luck!

Comments are now closed as this giveaway has ended.

FTC:  I was sent a shirt to review for free; Today's Miles will provide another shirt to the winner of this giveaway.

  2. I'd get it in blue and put 6 miles on it, since that's usually my daily average. :)

  3. I love that shirt! Pick me pick me! :) So hard to pick a number. I'll go with 7, and definitely like the blue like yours, Shelley.

  4. That's awesome!!! I might have to buy one (or two...) of these even if I don't win!

For now I'd choose 10, in neon yellow!

  5. Oh my gosh, I've often wished I had my mileage on my shirt so other runner's would know I'm exhausted after 10, not 2, haha!

I would put 8 on my red shirt. That's what I'm considering the minimum for a true long run these days.

  6. I'd get 13.1 (to celebrate my first half this year!) in red :)

  7. Pick me! I am the 3.1 mile queen (and that's about as far as I want to run!). And blue is my favorite color :D

  8. Love the shirt! that's awesome - I don't need a shirt, so don't count me in on this one, but it's nice to be able to tell people - I'm running far! :0)

  9. Love the shirt! I'd pick a 3.1 which I hope is equivalent to 5K? I haven't made it that far yet, but it's my goal to meet by the end of summer. I like the color of the one you're wearing.

Not sure how you inform the winner.
